jackso11
My first sup didn't have yellow lights at all and they have never yellowed, but my new sup has yellowed lights. I will refurb them, but how do I stop them yellowing again? I read posts on here that peoples lights yellow in months! mine didn't in 4 years before. dukenukem
I took mine apart and T-cut inside and out and then polished them before putting them back together. Lasted about 6 weeks before they started to go yelllow again. I think you need to do something more permanent like using laquer. I expect someone will be along shortly with something more useful. dwayne
have always been told it was the heat from the bulbs that stained the plastic so if thats true then laquer wouldnt really help would it?

jackso11
I don't really understand why mine didn't yellow at all in years on my first supe, standard J-spec ones. There must be some way to stop the yellowing. Whatever the magical way is it was done to mine before it came to the UK

SteveR
The yellowing is because they have been exposed to a lot of and/or strong sunlight. The plastic ones on y ol Supra were once mistaken for glass, as it had clearly been garaged before I had ti brought to the UK and I garaged it whilst I owned it as well: it hardly ever saw sunlight, let along strong/lots of sunlight. If* you can clean up the ones you've got, the chances are they'll stay clean. * = bare in mind the yellowing will affect both sides of the plastic - the outside is easy to get too... the inside requires more effort! duncz
Sorry for the sly bump.. I've read Si's guide to cleaning the headlights and it seems like a bit of faff on. Easier just to fit UK specs?
Paul
If you look at modern plastic lights there's a slight rainbow effect on the surface when looked at from an angle. I believe that this is some sort of UV protection, I don't think that the Supra lights had this on from new and even if they did then polishing the plastic would have removed the protection. Mike
I give mine a rub with a bit of T-Cut probably once a year, that seems to keep it at bay
TooColdToDrive
I use plastix once a year, then I apply car polish with UV protection to the outside every month or so. This is the best I got mine to:
