The-Plethora
As far as I can tell the UK cars do have better brakes but they seem to carry a big price premium and I just dont think its a premium I am willing to stretch to. I would rather spend the extra on one thats a bit newer or has a few extra features and maybe sort the brakes later. I havent seen this car listed on this forum before (maybe the owner is lurking somewhere). I sent the guy a few questions. In the ad it mentions converted to true twin turbo, as I am somewhat of a supra newbie does this mean that the turbos both operate at the same time all the time rather than the sequential standard? http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1194470.htm http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/1194/1194470-1.jpg Second one is http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1285925.htm http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/1285/1285925-1.jpg looks like a nice stock example but I read on the forum that it used to belong to a member here and they have simply bought it and hiked the price up which leaves a sour taste but it looks nice and clean. I like the alloys as well. Wonder how much success I would have in talking the price down. Edit: The white supra I posted earlier seems to have gone from ebay so presumably sold. I did however drop him a line and said if he had any difficulty selling (it is ebay after all) then to get in touch. He suggested I could put £200 down on the car and pay the rest later but I did not want to take the risk without seeing it first. Hopefully I will be Supra shopping this week! edge
Yes True twin turbo means that they will run together at the same time in parallel. I would like to see it running in normal mode aswel as this may have been done to cover up another problem like faulty turbo components. Its an easy thing to change aswel. Do a search on ttc, etc
The-Plethora
Dont worry this thread may soon reach it's long drawn out conclusion. Remember the white car I mentioned earlier? Well before it sold on ebay I sent the guy a mail saying that if he had any jip with ebay buyers (hardly uncommon) then let me know. As fate would have it he did have some trouble and he relisted it on pistonheads less £400 and dropped me a line. I had a brief chat with the guy on the phone (sounds a decent bloke) and paid £20 for a full car check (owners, miles, stolen? etc) and everything checks out although I cant do a VIN number check till I see it but will take my netbook along to do one. I am hopefully going to see the car this friday. Would any of you mind giving the advert a quick once over and see if you can see anything that would make you scream "Dave no don't do it!!!" http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1259061.htm The car itself http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/1259/1259061-5.jpg Under the bonnet is a little "busy", I notice me mentioned he moved the battery to the boot (presumably to fit something else in). Theres a few wires but could these just be temprature sensors etc that he has setup? I notice he has a few aftermarket dials etc. http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/1259/1259061-2.jpg As always I appreciate your advice. Jimmer
Odd, looks like he's moved the Battery to fit a different PAS fluid reservoir. Cant think why.
AndyT
He doesn't give you the model type for a start. RZ, GZ (It's not GZ )etc. A sympathetic owner would show that in the advert. I don't like the terminology in the advert. "Sportyness" eh. You want sportiness get an MX5. On the + though, it appears to be a bpu model. About £1k mods. It's kitted. Love it or not but another £1k. Add the wheels and suspension and you're looking at a TT auto for about 3k which is good value. You need to see all the paperwork. Who did the servicing and mods etc. Looking nice though.
turnerjr
welcome to the club mate. Seems like a reasonable price to me, but one thing that stands out is the poor colour matches. some of the panels seem to be different shades of white, which suggests that its had a few knocks in its life, so check for any nasty repairs and make sure all the door/bonnet/bootlid gaps etc are even all the way round. The bodyshop where i work charge £100 to paint a panel, so all those dodgy colour matches could prove expensive, so bear that in mind. Nic
I thought that but it may just be the camera, the painted plastic panels can look a slightly different colour on photos.
vvteye
check whether the skirts and spats are original plastic (not fg). If they are plastic then they are worth £700 alone looking at other adverts on here!
simonsupra
buy my NA much better than a TT lol http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1252125.htm

The-Plethora
Final bump. Just to say I finally got the car today and Jim (C8 SUP from here) has enough 10 pound notes to paper a small kitchen. Cheers Jimbo Very happy with the car so far, needs a few things doing like new exhaust and gauges sorting but nothing big which is good as I am living off baked beans for the next 3 years as I pay this loan back. If anyone in the Bristol area wants to meet up (I think there is an informal Cribbs meet) then let me know, I will also try and get myself to the Surrey rolling road day to meet some of you. Cheers
