dwayne
i have a new addition to my family so recently bought a J reg toyota estima to cart the kids around in. i bought it for £240 with a cracked head (common fault), anyways, i changed the head and put a new MOT on it and thought my 16" standard supra wheels would look nice on it but i have been told that because the wheels have a different profile tyre from front to back it would kill the transfer box. i checked the sizes and they are about 30mm out in overall diameter and had a difference of .7% or something like that. question is, will it kill my transfer box or will it be ok to drive? i did google it and got conflicting results so i'm still not sure. anyone else had this problem? cheers guys
ronttuk
a 4x4 needs tyres of the same size you will kill it if you dont have freewheeling front hubs even if you do you wont be able to use the 4x4 unless on very slippery mud or loose sand but the back will keep trying to overtake the front
dwayne
damn, thanks for that mate. shame though cos the bottom trim on the estima was gunmaetal the same as the wheels so it would have looked the part
Dnk
Cant you can change the tyres and match up the diameters using larger or smaller profile
edge
Try and get another pair of fronts or rears so they are the same size

ufop
would like to see what it will look like with supra wheels on though when you get another matching
dwayne
i cant change the tyres cos at the moment the standard size are the closest they can be, its all to do with the sidewall cos its a percentage of the width and not an actual measurement of the wall so the inch difference from front to back messes me up. i guess i could go for another set of fronts (larger sidewall), the 9" rears only just fit with about 5-10mm to spare on the side of the inner arch. thanks for the idea about that
