Fitz
So my Girlfriend accidently knocked quite a large amount of Nail Varnish/Polish Remover on the laptop and now, the keyboard doesn't work. Not one button except the power key. The touch sensitive mouse pad and selective keys with it all work, just not the keys... Anybody know if we can get them to work or do we need a new keyboard circuit put it or in the worse case scenario a new laptop. Any help at all would be great. The Girlfriend is quite upset. Shes scared she's lost all of the pictures from holidays that she hasn't backed up. Cheers, Cliff

Fitz
Just plug an external keyboard in Yup, that's the plan for tomorrow. We need to find an attachment for the keyboard as there are no ports for it. A trip to Maplin is in order...
adnanshah247
connectors of the keyboard plug need to be taken off and wiped. had a similar issue once. nail polsih isnt too deadly as its commonly used as a thinner to clean metal contacts. Paul
Nail Varnish remover is Acetone, maybe it won't harm contacts but it will melt the actual plastic of the keys prventing them from working properly.

This one is Acetone free (Update: The keys have started to respond again, although sometimes now it will shoot straight down to the bottom of the page and refuse to go up. Pg Up helps sometimes, although it often goes staight back down)

If the keys are now responding then maybe a stint in the airing cupboard to dry it out might help?
