Q trim VS P trim

What is the difference between the two trims when it comes to the turbo?

Is it the shape of the housing,the size of the impeller etc?

 

I am about to get my new tubby from Comp Turbo ordered and there are just WAY to many options there,don't want to get it wrong.

Im pretty sure its to with turbine and housing design. With the housing its just to do with the angle of the outlet to the intercooler piping.. i.e Q trim angles out so you can fit intercooler piping like stock (through the inner wing) P trim angles straight down for a short run to the intercooler but usualy have to modify the waterneck to suit the fitment..

Something not quite right in that explanation as turbine housing design & outlet to intercooler contradict each other, ones hot side, others cold side.

 

From a Precision document they describe the 2 as:

 

P = P Trim, Quick spool with sacrafice of some top end boost

Q = Q Trim, Normal spool with more top end boost

well i tried :D im sure somewhere i read there was a difference in turbine wheel (hot side) aswel as the housing :shrug:

With the compressor covers, these are Precisions definitions:

 

B = B Cover Compressor Housing 2.625" inlet, 1.75" outlet

E = E Cover Compressor Housing 3" inlet 2" outlet

H = H Cover Compressor Housing 4" inlet 3" outlet

HB = H Cover Compressor Housing 4" inlet 3" outlet with a bellmouth
