Flaine has good terrain, but its a bl**dy ugly town all concrete:faint:..i have worked there a few times at the ice racing circuit(for cars:):looney:

personally i would opt for the states as they are so much friendlier and better equipped for the whole skiing/boarding scene and the slops are massive:D:drool:

prices have come down now from what they used to be...

If i had to name a few they would be... soll in Austria, courmayeur in Italy as it has chamonix down the road too, well through the mount blanc tunnel and from there you have an abundance of good resorts...even flaine...its just off the A40 down the road.

Get a flight to Geneva airport hire a car and drive there is only about 50mins to courmayeur 35 ish to chamonix, that way you could do different resorts every day[COOL][/COOL]...trust me I've done it....in fact i drove all the way from the UK...its about 600 miles one way and can be done in a day...

good luck

Sofia in Bulgaria is meant to be quiet a good place to go.

I went to Bansko, Bulgaria last year (not skiing though) but it seemed to be a pretty decent ski resort and the maps of the runs looked pretty impressive, plus Bulgaria is dirt cheap! There's a very nice hotel there too (not cheap tho, infact rather pricey), which is about 100m from the gondolas. Its around a 3 hour taxi journey from Sofia, which was also very reasonable

This is the hotel - http://www.kempinski-bansko.com
