grs
1993 MKIV Twin Turbo Auto Please can anybody throw some light on this fault? The engine will not start when hot, but then it will after 10 minutes rest. Also, commencing at 3,000 rpm the engine cuts out, and continues to do so at every 1,000 rpm increment thereafter, even on no load. Thanks

JDModified
This sounds like a a weakness in the 12v supply to the starter, see this alot of gt4's, that or a bad earth. James

grs
Thanks for your help. All the diagostic codes have been checked and cleared. The Engine does crank over at normal speed and the starter lead has been checked out too. Still struggling!
nige
I had a problem similar to this years ago on a 760 volvo, traced it to the fuel pump eventually, the inline pump stopped working so the main tank pump was working to hard to push the fuel through so it would just stop,if you let it cool down it would go again,it was really bad when the tank went just below half full. absz
IF the engines cranks over and will not start when hot and the rpm is also not normal then the FIRST thing i will check will be the coolant sensor.
Rich
Try as said above the coolant temp sensor,or I had a crank sensor which did this and eventually totally let go so the car would'nt start at all.

Guest neilperrett
kind of sounds like the fuel pump ecu is starting to give up, my aristo had this problem a while back and it was traced to the pump ecu, started ok cold but not when hot. trip out the two fuel pump pins on diagnostic port and see if it starts hot. if it does then it be your fuel pump ecu
