Lbm
For all you star gazers and the like. You northern folk may get a better view http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20090812/tuk-meteor-shower-head-north-to-see-shoo-dba1618.html
Gaz6002
I watched it start last night, took a drive down to the New Forest and looked up. Magical, I'll be doing the same tonight.
Tom
I saw a few last night, will look again if it's not too cloudy
RobSheffield
I might go up on to the moors and see what its like
Lbm
I may even point my camera up at the skies, although it's very cloudy here at the moment.
dani_r
Cool! I love stuff like this. Space boggles my mind! Everytime I try to think about the massiveness ( I think I just invented a word?) of space i go cross-eyed!
caseys
Went down to Lyndhurst last night and watched it, was quite good. Tonight seems quite cloudy, but at least the moon is waning Would be good if someone gets up high and gets a tripod and some really long exposure shots I bet
RedM
Don't look! Have you not seen Day of the Triffids?
dani_r
Does this start at a specific time? or just when it gets dark?
Ewen
Too much cloud down here by the looks of it, although my daughter saw four or five last night out in the sticks away from the street lights. That Yahoo News link lists gun crime as a related topic, shooting stars is obviously a major concern these days.
Guigsy
i'v never seen any shooting stars too cloudy tonight
Blackie
Do we have a rough idea on time of this happening happening?
caseys
Does this start at a specific time? or just when it gets dark? It's been going on since about 1st august constantly, just to tonight is the peak of it. It'll be on for a few days yet best to get out and see it before the moon rises fully so pre 10pm you'll get the best conditions
jacko
Do we have a rough idea on time of this happening happening? They said on the news earlier around midnight - but its too cloudy here anyway
Carl_S
I would watch it, make an effort, only I saw a UFO the other day an found it boring, so on balance I'll pass.
Ewen
It's been going on since about 1st august constantly 1st August very year since 1959 actually. I still get Italian Monks trying to poke me with exquisitely carved daggers even now.

Ewen
What were you expecting? Assassins with a bit more imagination frankly. After all, I've used sheets of glass, lifts, frozen rivers and a train. The least they can do is come up with something genuinely fresh. Pot
I remember watching it last year, even hanging out of my window in a well lit area I was able to see at least one 'good one' each couple of minutes... The year before, when I went 'up the hill' was great, it was a clear night, and the sky was nice and dark so they really stood out I think the cloud cover (considering it's raining at the moment), might be an obstacle this time... Carl_S
Wow. Seems like a lot of work to me. My imagination is a mere pigeon as to your golden eagle. My pigeon does have a chavvy gold necklace on though, and a little sovereign ring on one of the claws.
stevie_b
I've just had a look up at the sky (north and south), but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. However, I'm in my birthday suit and I think one moon is quite sufficient for my neighbours.
dani_r
Just been outside and had a look! Saw a few good ones but we were limited in our view and the cloud was a bit of a PITA! Still, saw some good ones! Happy Chappy
caseys
1st August very year since 1959 actually. I still get Italian Monks trying to poke me with exquisitely carved daggers even now. Heh indeed you are correct sir. Are you Sir Lawrence? Assum est, inquit, versa et manduca? I believe it may even crash into us one day. It's orbit is something like 130 years isn't it? I think the news coverage of it was greater this year as it's international astronomy year or some such thing. A few years ago was sat in Nomansland near Salisbury and it was awesome as had zero light pollution and the moon was about 1/4 full still I bet it's not a patch on the aurora borealis. I have to see that one day
