Hey guys need some help.my mates nissan 300zx lost aproxx 3/4 pints of water on sunday after we had been out for a cruise,he parked in his garage ,went out a while after and found the water on the floor,he tried to fill up the rad but it would only take a very small amount of water,no obvious signs of a hose leek or fluid over the engine, it looks like it came from the overflow hose on the radiator,no white smoke when driving so I guess this rules out head gasket or even blown head, any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks.

You may want to explain that slightly better unless I missed something....

You say it lost approx 3/4 of a pint but then state that the rad took very little to fill.

I am guessing you/he may have checked the resovior bottle level and filled it up. Then after running the engine the resovior bottle will overflow (which is normal) onto the ground but the rad and coolant system has stayed at it's proper level.

If that is what has happened then it's fine. If not then it may take a drive or two and some more checking to find the prob.

Sorry bout the confusion what I meant was it dumped 3 to four pints of water and when he tried to add more water it only took a liitle drop hope that clears it up a little thanks.

did he have the air con on ?

on my old zx the aircon compresser use to freeze up on the outside after a long run it would melt and leave a large puddle of water underneath

No he took the aircon out never used it,thanks for the ideas anyway guys most appreciated.
