Lacoste82
Hey all, a question for ya all:) I have bought an aftermarket steering wheel, and i now need a hub bosskit, ive looked around and found what i needed(i think!) My supe is a late 93 model, with both airbag and cruise control, I found a hub for supras that have just that. I havent however been able to get in contact with the seller of the hub yet, and as im inpatient of nature i jwas really hoping that anyone one of u guys, could answer the following questions: 1. Will the cruise control still work with this kind of hub? 2. Now that its a hub meant for a supra with an airbag, what does actually happen to the airbag? What i mean is, the airbag it self will be removed, when the new steering wheel is mounted - So why is a special hub needed? Does it include some wirering that "makes the supra think the airbag is still mounted"(in lag of better ways to explain it :0) ) and thereby preventing the airbag light in the dashboard from flashing!? I have already searched the site for clues, but havent been able to find a complete answer to my questions - So im looking forward to hearing anything u might know about this subject! Thx in advance, regards Mikkel
jackso11
any news on this? I have cruise control and want to keep it, can you do so when changing steering wheel?
Guest SUPRAC
I have a momo steering wheel fitted and the garage told me that the hub kit wired the airbag light to 'fool' the car into thinking it was still fitted, so the dashboard light doesn't flash. Not sure if this would also relate to cruise control (mine doesn't have it)
Jamesy
.....if you have cruise you will need a special "cruise" boss kit!! I think Paul W sells them on here mate
jackso11
do the controls attach to the 'special' boss so it can still be used?
Scott
Be careful if you remove the airbag. I think this may invalidate your insurance.
Jamesy
do the controls attach to the 'special' boss so it can still be used? not 100% but think there is a sender/sensor within the boss mate
jackso11
Be careful if you remove the airbag. I think this may invalidate your insurance. Just saw this....is it true?
Scott
Just saw this....is it true? Well you are removing a factory fitted safety device from your car. If you take it out and don't tell your insurance then it is invalid. Not sure if airbag removal is in the normal options so you may struggle to get a quote. I haven't tried it personally. My guess is that most people just remove it, don't tell the insurance and hope for the best. I'm just not one for best hoping.
