Guest Garfy
Following on from the good feedback some of you gave me with regards to my other none supra project Project MUX MX5 turbo I thought I would let you know a little bit about this one, and again if people are interested I'll keep the thread updated as the project progresses The cars History My dad originally purchased the car approximately 17 years ago, it was yellow then and had the standard 1.3 engine, those were prone to having a big end knock, which this one had, he restored the body work, sprayed it british racing green and replaced the big ends, but he soon decided that the 1.3 just wasn't powerfull enough, and it just so happened that a dolly sprint engine came up nice and cheap, it was purchased and rebuilt, mated to a tr7 5 speed gearbox, and shoe horned into the spitfire, hence the name I have given it "Sprintfire" he had more or less got the car finished and it only had a few minor problems that needed to be ironed out, but unfortunatly he died suddenly. That was some 7 years ago, and for various reasons the car has been somewhat neglected over the years (I couldn't bring myself to look at it for a few years, and then I didn't want to because its condition depressed me), it was trailered to my house over a year ago, and has stood in my drive waiting patiently for me to knock the garage through and get started on it, well I'm really pleased to say that that day was yesterday. The years have been harder on it than I thought, and I quickly realised that a complete restoration is required, so the strip down began. Couple of pictures before I started striping it down and now some of all the brightwork, lights and bumpers removed so I can get started on the bodywork Tucked up snuggly in its new home the next thing I need to do is get it running, because it took two of us to push it into the garage, I can't be doing that every time I want to work on it
