mustang
I'm having some trouble with the Supra, please excuse my complete lack of technical knowledge. I was driving up to see some mates on friday night, accelerating resonably hard when the warning light comes on, it was over 4k revs so on the 2nd turbo. I lifted off the throttle and slowed down and the light went off again, so took it easy the rest of the way. Then yesterday I drove just down the road to tesco, everything was fine. When I came back to the car (engine still hot) and started driving away the light comes on again and the car is feeling unsettled, and idling strangely, chugging like v8 sound rather than the usual smooth sound. I pulled off the road and switched the engine off, left it a while and switched on, light still on. So I decided to limp home, I kept off the turbos and about a minuite down the road it went off and behaved fine. I got the error codes off it and its showing 14 - Ignition signal (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13920&d=1112558346) and 34 - Turbo pressure malfunction (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13922&d=1112558346) Does anyone know what the problem might be? I need to get home tonight, about 130miles would I be able to drive it off boost or should I call breakdown? I don't know of any garages where I am that I'd trust with it. Fifty
dont know about turbo warning but I would be checking coil pack connectors Rich
mustang
Thanks Rich, I've just looked at the guide to changing them and it looks like that will sort the misfiring so I'll probably just take it easy on the way home and get onto toyota on to whifbitz on monday. This will probably sound stupid but the guide doesn't explain where to find the coil packs in the first place. Are they in the passenger footwell? lol. caseys
For 14 coil packs and also check spark plugs? Have a look at this guide : http://mkiv.com/techarticles/spark_plugs/index.html for spark plugs http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=61141 for coil packs No idea on the 32 though I'm afraid dude
Fifty
take off the plastic plug cover you will then see 6 coil pack clips 2 clips per coil pack. These are notorious fragile and often break when played with so be careful, see if you find a loose one or loose wire. Rich
ManwithSupra
Im guessing here but wouldn't code 34 Turbo pressure malfucntion be caused by a faulty MAP sensor ??
mustang
Took the spark plug cover off and all the clips etc look ok, see pic. That vacume hose has a big split in it and also a chunk missing at the other end round the back
Fifty
Change the hoses they are cheap from Toyota numbers are listed on site do a search. if car is idling rough just gently wiggle clips in sequence and see if she goes smooth again; they might look OK but may not be. lol at least you know where the coil packs and plugs are now Rich
