Chris Wilson
NOT doubting your judgement as a few have said how these are poor in the wet but why would they put these tyres on standard cars? like the megan sport i think it is? if they will be used all weather? They are NOT put on standard cars, they are an option on cars that are at the most extreme end of a very few makers range where the cars are basically homologation specials with a total emphasis on outright performance. Given the plethora of written off Supras every winter on "normal" tyres I dread to think what'll happen if everyone starts believing hard compound, stiff sidewall, low tread depth specials are a good winter tyre

MarkR
I found I needed to inflate the Michelins less than the Eagles to get the same traction.
Chris Wilson
in regards to michelin sports.. how would you rate them?? Now, I see a lot of misunderstanding about the Michelin DOT marked track tyres, I am on about Michelin Pilot Sport *CUPS* The cups being the operative word. They are by far the best of the European and Japanese made DOT "track" tyres, but also the most expensive. If you set the geo up to make them work properly they seem to be about 1.5 to 2.5 seconds a lap quicker around say Donington than an R888 shod car set up correctly. That's a BIG difference. They are alo much better in the wet, but you'll still have every man and his dog passing you who are on decent wet weather tyres. The Pirelli P Zero Corsa seems to give times fairly close to the Michelins, but not quite as good. Obviously some cars suit some tyres better than others. I have run all 3 types on a RWD Skyline, I favour the Michelins, but they can be difficult to get at short notice. For those that say the Pirellis and Michelins are a lot more expensive you have to temper the cost against the fact that on well set up cars the dearer tyres last a lot longer, as well as give better grip. I just cannot fathom at all why anyone wouldn't spend on good tyres and brake pads / brake fluid for track or track day usage, they make all the difference, and alongside fuel, entry fees, travelling and time off work, the extra cost is trivial. spartan
This thread really doesn't mean anything because the list has been quoted incorrectly several times Where misquotes were made, I corrected the scores with a new post (as you can see). In my opinion, this thread is meaningful and has the potential to be even more useful, the more members post their scores and opinions (the 452s Jamie mentions being a case in point - all those positive scores offset by a similar number of negatives).
