Chrisbeast
also, when you say you got the spoiler to move when not in the car, can you explain how you did that? Heres a page from the manual showing how i checked the motor.
Guest Garfy
well, the spoiler ECU is still a box of wizardry as far as I'm concerned, but, this is how I understand the operation Pins 1 and 2 are positive and negative for the motor, hence why reversing polarity reverses the dirrection Pins 3 and 5 are the limit switch's Pin 4 is earth so, logic suggests that there should never be voltage on pins 3 and 5, hmmm, unless the ECU uses a positive feed to tell it what position the motor is in instead of an earth (which is what I use in my controller), but, my current guess would be that the ecu is at fault but worth cheaking your switch, when you look at the back of it there are 5 pins in a row, the middle one is the common and the two outers are switch, check that you are getting a connection between the common and each switch when buttons are pressed, pressing Auto off should make a connection with one, and pressing down should make a connection with the other then check the limit switch's in the motor the same way, using pin 4 as your common and pins 3 and 5 as the switch's, you will have to use your previous method to make the motor move from fully up to fully down though. If all those are ok then it can only really be the ecu. I hope that helps

I powered the motor fully up and down a few times and found that with the spoiler down i have continuity between pins 4 and 5 but with spoiler up there is no continuity between 4 and 3. Does this sound like the switch in the motor is buggered? Tested the interior switch for continuity again and its fine apart from the illumination circuit part. Thanks again for all your help Garfy. I'm just thinking, that as a test you could try joining 3 and 4 to see if that stops the flashing lights, but remember to break the joint as soon as you press the down button, to simulate the switch, worth a go just to make sure
Chrisbeast
Just tried this and the flashing light on switch stopped.

Chrisbeast
:DUpdate:D Well I have fixed the motor, had to do some soldering! I'll try and post some pics of it up later. Only problem now is that at about 65mph the spoiler switch light starts to flash along with the ! warning. Im thinking this is something to do with my speedo converter maybe? Spoiler goes up and down nicely with just ignition on and looks great!
Guest Garfy
that suggests to me that its not actually going down at 65mph
Chrisbeast
that suggests to me that its not actually going down at 65mph Yeah, do you think this could be an issue with the speedo converter or something else?
Guest Garfy
I'm not sure at the moment, my 1st guess would be that when the speedo converter was fitted the wire that goes to the spoiler ECU has been broken, therefore its not getting the signal to go down, but then how would it know to throw up an error? I wouldn't have thought its the speedo converter itself, because the only issue I know of with them is when there is confusion over kmh and mph, all that does is mean your spoiler wont go down till something like 100mph if memory serves, and that wouldn't throw up an error. Chrisbeast
Well this is strange, I've just been out in the car and the spoiler was working fine, going down at 60 ish and back up again at 40 ish. Did this 3 times. No ! warning on dash just spoiler switch light on, maybe the spoiler ecu needed to learn or something? Chrisbeast
Here are a few pics of inside the Active spoiler motor for anyone interested, sorry they're a bit blurry! The last pic shows the problem, a break in the wire strip.
