Chrisbeast
Afternoon all. I have had a search but still un sure about this. I bought a Active Spoiler, fitted it yesterday but it wont work! I can get it working with just a battery but when plugged in on the car the light on the switch flashes along with the ! dash light. Could it be to do with the speedo conversion? Thanks for any input. Edited August 4, 2009 by Chrisbeast Im a fool! (see edit history)

Chrisbeast
No it wont budge. I have voltage at the motor connector pins 3 and 5 though. Edited August 4, 2009 by Chrisbeast (see edit history)
Guest Garfy
I'll have to have a look at my wiring diagram when I get home mate

bigbloodyturbo
Is the fuse ok? when you pull the fuse to keep the spoiler in the down postion, the light should flash on and off and the ! sign on the dash should stay on, this sounds similar to what you describe. Chrisbeast
Checked the fuse in drivers side footwell its ok.
Chrisbeast
Looking in my manual it says to check the switch positions for continuity, i have checked them they are ok but the illumination circuit has no continuity. Would something as stupid as the 3 bulbs not working in the switch cause the whole unit not to work?

Guest Garfy
also, when you say you got the spoiler to move when not in the car, can you explain how you did that? Edited August 4, 2009 by Garfy (see edit history)

TLicense
thats correct, it should only deploy about 60 mph IIRC. I thought it was 35 ish? I thought if it deployed at 60 ish it meant that the odo change hadn't been done right? Or perhaps it should be t'other way round?

Or perhaps it should be t'other way round? It should pop out at 60'ish and drop back in an 50'ish, atleast thats what mine does.

danhicks22
thats correct, unless you have one of my controllers I personally think it's a waste having the active spoiler without manual control. It looks awesome down, why wait until you hit 60 to have it on show?

It looks awesome down, why wait until you hit 60 to have it on show? It does look awesome down, but it's for aerodynamics and the lack of manual control must be for safety concerns. If Toyota allowed manual control, they would have endless people curbing them because they forgot and would be replacing them all the time. At 60mph, you shouldn't be near speed bumps or curbs

At 60mph, you shouldn't be near speed bumps or curbs I've hit a curb at 60 before That was the left front wheel though and not the bumper. Also not in the Supra. I've been pretty good so far at remembering to take mine up - not hit anything with it yet *touch wood*.

danhicks22
It was about 1 in the morning and I'd just got out of a van having been driven for 8 hours from Scotland to Malvern after a week's mountain biking holiday. On my way back to Cheltenham, I was fiddling with my CDs and didn't see the road bend slightly right before it moved to the left. I just clipped it and it swerved me a bit. Car was fine though and there was no one around. Not as dramatic as you might imagine Driving around with an after market bumper has meant I take speed bumps ssSOOOOoooo slowly. That's what puts me off getting an aftermarket bumper - I regularly drive places with pretty nasty ones. Plus I like the current look. Just need a bonnet scoop to complete my version of Mr Toyota's vision

Plus I like the current look. Just need a bonnet scoop to complete my version of Mr Toyota's vision I am after an active spoiler to put onto a stock bumper I have (when I get it fitted). Speed bumps are ok, I haven't scratched mine yet - you just have to go about 5mph.
Chrisbeast
What are you getting on pins 1, 2 and 4 and what position is the spoiler in currently? With ignition on and the spoiler up im getting nothing at pins 1,2 and 4 but getting volts at 3 and 5. No volts show at 1 or 2 with the down button pressed so wondering if its the ecu.
