martini
cool. I have used some vasaline once. Interesting that you refer to your skin as "paintwork" and that there are so many polishers here. Vaseline dude. You aren't supposed to drink the polish either Carl. Maybe if I did I would understand you!
tbourner
I use Sonax wash and polish. Best polish I've used as it doesn't leave white on the plastics and doesn't need a lot of effort to get off even if in direct sun!
Guest MarcB
Are u using a machine or doing it by hand?.........u will need a machine/good polish to get the correct level of correction needed. I use an electric buffing machine
JamesC
Wash car with soap and water, (turtle wax shampoo normally), hose off with high pressure washer, dry off with chamois leather, apply polish, (usually autoglym but im trying out a couple of others just now), buff to a shine. Now im quite happy with the shine i get, (but i still want more), my main problem is some of the paintwork looks dull in places, especially when the sun hits it, ive tried rebuffing these areas but all to no avail. I said earlier that i wasnt bothered about the price, well thats a lie, didnt realise you can get polish that expensive, so my budget would be up to £50. Hope you can help Have a look here mate, some fantastic stuff on there. They will tell you not to use a chamois etc http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php? tbourner
They will tell you not to use a chamois etc http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php? What about a towel? I use those microfibre towels to dry and polish, I have about a dozen of them all cleaned after each wash, always use particular ones for drying, wet polish and buff. JamesC
I would think they should be ok. I just use one of these: http://www.chemicalguysuk.com/product_p/lrgewaff.htm. It was too big though so i cut it in half
Stonkin
I use an electric buffing machine Hi Marc, by this im presuming you mean something from Halfords as opposed to a decent dual action or rotary. Perhaps not but thats how i read it, in which case its probably not helping you at all.

God you guys are good, yes, it is a halfords buffer coz it was cheap and not as sore on the arms, lol, this is becoming quite a science, so if i were to get a dual action or rotary, how would this differ from the one im using?. Man i feel stupid:
martini
Man i feel stupid: Don't. This is the place to ask such things! So far, I am sticking to old-fashioned me and a cloth for my polishing - I would love to get her detailed sometime. I think I will - she'd like that
