not bothered 'bout price, just want an awesome shine on the paintwork, i polish once a month using autoglym and a buffer but some of the paintwork looks a bit duller than other bits.

p.s. i'll start a thread on foreign workers next time

autoglym on a buffer if its SRP , unless you work it properly it will not give you good results its full of fillers and abrasives .

so now you need to get the car machined properly to remove any swirls or marring made by the SRP , then after that keeping it clean will be a lot easier.

plus a great shine comes from the prep work before , you can put on what you like at enomous cost but it wont look any better if its not preped properly .

have a word with TODD on here hes a jock lol dont know how far from you he is but werth a go .

he can give you the advice on the way to getting what you want

Well if money is no object, THIS StUFF must be decent for the price. Although, suprisingly i've never tried it myself.

After a wash.. i give her a once over with that 'Liquid Ice' polish, it's fast too!!

Works for maintaining an already good shine..if you're car is faded, i guess it would not be the ticket for you.

Tho..washing with rainwater does help to save elbow grease when it comes to the polish...imo

:)

Is SRP not supposed to fill in swirls and cover very light scratches?

Thats what a lot of people seem to use it for and seem to be getting good results.

I have used it myself with a rotary and it does a good job on masking light swirls but does need to be applied monthly and covered with a wax/sealent to make it last.

Also SRP i think does not contain any major abrasives and will not give a good cut for correction work but is used mainly for covering swirls etc.

Whats the best polish/wax on the market so i can blind other drivers out there.

What colour is the car?

Different waxes/sealents will wok better on different colours.

AG hd wax is for darker colour cars and on black even though it gets negative press i like the slickness of supagard if been prepped properly.

feel it its gritty , and yes it wont give good correction but if not broken down properly will mar the paint , and as said full of fillers ,

basically he can put on what he likes but if its not preped properly and he goes for something expensive hes wasting his money

Scenario: It's time to wash the white car, talk me through your current process and the items used please.

You've also said price isn't an issue, it will be, post a realistic amount you are willing to spend and then we can help you further, possibly with a selection of products that get the best out of each other.

£10? £50? £100? £1000? £30,000? All possible with one pot of "polish" alone but none of them are magical enough to make a white car capable of blinding people IMO, it's not the best colour to impress people with a great shine.

Totally agree that prep is the key to a good finish but i have read loads about srp being good for covering swirls.

I also agree that it needs to be broken down and worked properly and is best done with a DA or rotary.

cool. I have used some vasaline once. Interesting that you refer to your skin as "paintwork" and that there are so many polishers here.

Can't wait to try black fire enhancing gloss polish. And I have never heard it called "liquid ice" before. Coolest name ever.

Wash car with soap and water, (turtle wax shampoo normally), hose off with high pressure washer, dry off with chamois leather, apply polish, (usually autoglym but im trying out a couple of others just now), buff to a shine.

Now im quite happy with the shine i get, (but i still want more), my main problem is some of the paintwork looks dull in places, especially when the sun hits it, ive tried rebuffing these areas but all to no avail.

I said earlier that i wasnt bothered about the price, well thats a lie, didnt realise you can get polish that expensive, so my budget would be up to £50.

Hope you can help
