jackso11
My mum owned this from new, cambelt broke and she was told it was wrecked and needed a new engine. Classic case of a garage trying to rip of a lady for £2000!! Anyway, she loved the car and bought one identical to it again...can bee seen parked behind this one! and gave it to me. Belt changed, runs like a dream. She has owned it since new, bought in 1997, R reg. It has done 151k miles, has a few little dings but only minor trolly marks as expected of a car this age. I just changed the cambelt, aux belt and alternator belts this weekend as the last service didn't have them done. She has had it in the garage for about 16 months while the decision has been made what to do with it. Runs perfectly but has a flat battery at the moment. I will be putting a new battery in it and getting an MOT to help the sale. It is silver, V6 1.8, has almost new tyres all round, runs perfectly. New wheel bearings all round, almost new breaks all round and if I remember correctly the discs where changed not too long ago. Will check the history (have all history since new). I will get pictures up but not for a couple of weeks as I am in london and it is up in lincolnshire. Just wondered if there is anyone interested on here. Looking for £1000 ono. EDIT I have now had the car MOT'ed in december, only just got round to getting pictures of the car though as it is in lincolnshire and I am down in london. Passed with flying colours except for the exhaust which has now been replaced with a brand spanking new one. New battery put in, runs beautifully now! So, very cheap car with just about everything that needs to be done to a car of this age done. Excellent on petrol, perfomance is good too. Cheap run about or as it is a '97 plate it will qualify for £2k of new cars on the trade in scheme. I had this up on a ramp to with the idea of de-rusting the underneath...there was no notable rust under there, very good condition all round (a little rust on some brackets in the engine bay as can be seen, easy to take off sand and respray though). Edit again!! Forgot to add, I bought another bumper off ebay to replace the one that is scuffed (ass seen in the pictures). So the car will come with a spare front bumper, spare back bumper, and front and rear spats. All in silver.

I am not going to get up to lincs to get photos for a week and a bit.

jackso11
Thanks. THey are really nice cars, pretty quick for a 1.8. Also, anyone wanting a project....there is a 2.5 turbo engine that fits straight in according to the uk-mx3 site. They are nice and quiet for the long drives too. jackso11
Bit of infor for you, I just found this review while looking for car specs. As standard with Japanese NA engines they are long lasting and bulletproof. "The MX-3 is notable for having one of the lowest displacement V6 engines ever fitted to a production vehicle, with a 1.8 L V6 130bhp. It had a top speed of approximately 136 mph (219 km/h), and a 0-60 mph (100 km/h) time of 8.5 seconds. It has a turn rate of 0.89 g (8.7 m/s²) and its handling capabilities are one of the best in class. The V6 engine was impressive for the time, belonging to the Mazda K-series, which were used in a range of Mazda vehicles. These engines were designed to be smooth, very long lasting, and high torque across the RPM range. These engines used a variable length intake manifold (VLIM), in order to provide optimal torque using intake resonance. Mazda called their system on the MX-3 the "Variable Resonance Induction System" (VRIS). This engine had a 7000 RPM redline, and a 7800 RPM fuel cutoff." For those of you who like modding, there is a 2.5L turbo engine that fits straight into this car, out of a ford probe, same K series engine. Quick little then! jackso11
Price dropped to £1k ono. Excelent car, top of its range with all the extras, electric sunroof etc. Excellent car for the price, was £22k when new.
