Soop Dogg Posted October 8, 2009 Share Posted October 8, 2009 I recently bought the HTC Hero. So far so good - impressive array of apps now and I haven't had to pay a penny for any of them. Would have liked to have a flash on the camera, but it's not that much of a worry. (Might feel differently about that once the clocks go back later this month) It has a pretty good video camera too. Has a built in PDF reader, plays adobe flash and can read (but not edit) MSOffice docs. (word, excel, powerpoint) Fully integrating with Facebook has actually meant I know what my nieces & nephews are up to these days! (And other family abroad etc) I haven't ever used twitter or flickr, but the phone can link to those too. It seems to me to be the phone equivalent of having a PC with Linux on it as it seems to be very 'tweakable' if you're willing to dive in and have a go. So far, so pleased. Looks like I'm going to be averaging 2-3 days with my Samsung Galaxy (with GPS/wireless/bluetooth disabled). Which, having never owned a "smartphone" before I don't think is too bad. With the battery apparently being a larger capacity than the Hero and with an OLED screen I was hoping it might last longer, but from what I've read they seem pretty much the same. Na your thinking an even higher level then me Satio due out 9th or 13th this month. I use my phone for 3 basic tasks, photo's, txt, calls. It has a 12mb camera and symbian operating system. dangerous brain Posted October 8, 2009 Share Posted October 8, 2009 If I don't spend forever on the internet on the HTC TP2 then the battery will stretch into a fourth day. If however I get a thoroughly boring day and or use google maps for a load of the day then the battery will die in less than 12 hours. Its a huge screen to keep powered up for long periods. Currently about a couple of days. (But I'm still a bit new-fangled with it all!) If I have GPS/WiFi etc all turned on and do a load of surfing, then it won't get into day 2. tbourner Posted October 19, 2009 Author Share Posted October 19, 2009 Got a Satio at the weekend, it's nice but I don't like the pressure on the pad - it's much harder than the Tocco was even though it's apparently a capacitive screen as well (although you can use a stylus - I don't get it). Now I need to learn about smart phones, what can I read up about them? Do I need to do FW upgrades and learn how to load my home brews or whatever they are? Also, having trouble connecting to my work wi-fi, it just says: "WLAN: connection failed, WPA authentication unsuccessful", doesn't even give me an option to put in my login details. Where do I go to do that in the menus though? On the wi-fi connect screen I just have the choice to connect and then I get the error it doesn't give me an option to log in.
