Aldo87
I have spent the whole day changing the brakes and iv hit a wee problem. One of the bolts attached to the part that holds the caliper in absolutly solid and wont budge. Iv attached a picture of the bolt. Im not expert but I imagine that this should move about freely, like the other one. I cant fit the caliper back on as the bolt wont push far enough in to fit over the new pads and disc. Does anyone know what I should do?
Guest mickmcl007
hi mate you shouldnt take the bolts out,you should only remove the 2 retaining bolts holding the caliner onto that part and prize it away from one another, but the exact same thing happened to mine i forced the bolt back in and got the caliper back together now my brake doesnt work properly and just keeps rubbing, bummer, think i will also need to buy a caliper....mines was the drivers side,
Homer
It's a VERY common problem, the slider gets stuck, you can free them up but they often stick again soon afterwards. You can get refurb kits for these from Toyota, but it might be cheaper getting a set of working 2nd hand ones.
Digsy
Those sliders should have rubber seals over them. I'm not surprised they have seized up. Seal kits from Toyota for J-sec brakes are very cheap. I'd invest in a set and rebuild the calipers with a new bolt.

pedrosixfour
Fill the recess under the bolthead with good quality penetrating fluid and leave it overnight.
