My Devon holiday

Lbm

Recommended Posts

Well I put up some photos of last year's Corfu trip, so I thought I'd start this year's Devon holiday photo thread with an irrelevant and somewhat bland opening.

Goodo.

The photos then...

Myself, Hannah, Elliot & lil Louis stayed in quite a swanky coachhouse-cottage, nestled behind the main house in South Allington.

A bunch of cars. Why they look so tiny.

We popped out to Slapton Sands, where they had carried out some D-Day landing practice etc...

On Slapton Sands, I found 3 very agreeable models. I don't know who they were, but I like this clichéd composition so much, I thought I'd take it.

We then nipped over to Dartmouth for the afternoon...

It's rather pretty.

The next day rained so much - we all hid in a cave. Kent's Cavern, in Torquay. Hmmmm...

When we stepped back outside, many triffids had grown.

If anyone's still looking at this garbage, I'm very grateful.

I'll put the kettle on and hand out biscuits, as there are still a few more photos to come.

Note to blackie. Our shots are coming up soon :D

The next day, it didn't rain, so we went down to Blackpool Sands.

Lbm meets Blackie. We've pm'd, texted, phoned, even written little notes to each other.

He begged me to meet him and I finally gave in. :D

Al is a lovely bloke, and I don't mind admitting we had a cheeky jacket potato lunch together near Exeter.

After lunch he went off somewhere dark and mysterious dressed as a giant bee, and I went back down to the south coast. Salcombe in fact. Very nice too.

The look of a small chap who knows a good adventure when he sees one - in the old barn and wheatfield, up the hill a bit from our cottage.

So that's it. It rained. It rained some more. We saw a tank, went to the beach twice and a cave. I met Blackie and we drove home :)

One of the most disappointing highlights for me was a crap pasty in Pasties 'r' Us in Torquay.

Pastry? - check

Potatoey filling? - check

Onioney bits? - check

Supreme Meaty Goodness? - Mais non monsieur!

No bananas?

That cottage looked like it could be in Tuscany or somewhere. Very nice.

Was thinking of doing a banana wig/hovis shot with Blackie. It would have been contrived and not that funny. Glad I talked Al out of it. :innocent:

And yes, the cottage really could be in Tuscany- but without the rain. Did I mention the rain?

Makes a change from watford, can see why you went.

Bit disappointed as I was expecting to see photos of your good self. Mind you having seen the real thing and your lovely wife in person, I can content myself with the memories.

I have a triffid in my front garden, thanks for identifying the genus.

Cracking pictures there, and a rather sharp looking supra you have.

Thank you. Thank you.

I can't take all the credit, but I will. :sly:

It was partially based, looks wise, on JamieP's old red one (csa's now), but with not quite the same amount of power though.
