Class One
I've read today that fuel protests leading upto the General Election maybe gathering pace. About time too! I'm already paying 93p/litre for Optimax where I live and diesel for my other car is 92p/litre. This is way over what the levels were before. However, as much as the public might protest, do you think it will make a difference?
penguin
it is before the election, so it will be a bit of a bitch if labour refuse to lower duty..... lol if they dont, i'll vote for sumone else, just for the sake of it
Class One
Its just I noticed that none of the Parties have mentioned this in their manifestos'. Is it because of the massive amount of tax raised from fuel duty. I don't really want to raise a Political discussion as perhaps this is not the place but the cost of fuel is ridiculous. attilauk
how else do you think the conservatives plan to fund their "magic" tax cut proposals...
Green Peace
I bet the price will drop after the Election!!!!!!!!!! Though I do think...the amount of money we pay as Motorists (for Everything) Fuel, Insurance, Tax, Servicing at main dealerships, is way too much compared to other countries. The Fact that 'The Sun Newspaper' is backing the Labour Party says it all... What a mess...who the hell are we supposed to vote for???? Bring on the Fuel protests I say...this government are clearly not representing the interests of the people...most of us are in debt, cost of living is higher salaries are lower, most dont have a secure income and almost no rights at work. Though Tories are not an option as due to the underspending in public services (during their term) on Roads, transport, Hospitals etc all the blame has been transfered to labour. The Government is a Political Seasaw... bring back Guy Fawkes!
AJI
I really do hope these protest have a real impact.
magicmatty
Your right about not being the right place for political debates, however.... I joined the Army 18 years ago and have travelled fairly extensively...and there is NOTHING left in this country to call great any more....I cannot wait until the day i leave (2011) to move abroad. Loads of mates have done it already and they are really living the life of Riley...France, Spain, NZ, Aus etc... We have got (and more worryingly - put up with) the worst of everything!!) I think horrific Petrol prices are just a common interest or at least common thing we all share. It also makes 18ish MPG quite scary when you commute 100 miles+ a day
Bobbeh
You lot must be filling up at the wrong places., I paid 87p a litre for Optimax yesterday.
terribleturner
Im paying about 96 a litre of Opti. But are we not gonna get another fuel shortage when these protests happen?? Im totally for them, but wasn't this the reason we had to que for hours and hours a few years back??
toyotasuprauk
The protests a few years ago did cause some sort term fuel shortages but the prices would have been much higher now if it wasnt for those. I'm paying 85p for a 95 ron but even that is enough.
Markie
I pay 84p/litre for Optimax at the moment in my area of Wales where I live. However, where I am from (Pembrokeshire/Tenby area) where the main refinarys are, it is a couple of pence more expensive per litre compared to further up the country and the midlands, where the refinarys pump a huge amount of there fuel.. Where the hell is the sense in that!
BrianBunning
its 90.9 per litre for optimax round my way
