Thats the laser giving up, really common.

I can fix it for you if your not willing to have a blast yourself.

This would be much appreciated, can give you a bit of money if you can sort it out for us no problem, I'm not the best at this kind of stuff..

I'll send you a msg after i've cooked my dinner! :)

Hmmm.

Something to try first - flip the power switch on the back (to OFF). Take out the power plug. Leave it 2 minutes. Put the plug back in, flip the switch and try to power it on again.

BTW European consumer electronics warranty is longer than a year ;) It's 2 years - so you can get a replacement if it's a defect until October 2009. Unless you had a power-surge (which isn't a defect - it's an accident)

Trying to help :) The latter link shows someone winning a replacement telly off Tesco after 18 months. All consumer electronics should be covered for a period of 24 months. Was on BBC Breakfast a few weeks ago too

The manufactures "1 yr guarantee" is that retailers so generously "give" you is in addition to your rights under the UK Sale of Goods act - and the EU directive(?) not instead of.

Take proof of purchase and stand your ground. They will try to fob you off with "sorry out of the 1 yr etc" knowing full well your rights under the above and taking advantage of your ignorance and not wanting to make a scene.

So am I rite in thinking I should take it back to game and by rites they should give me a new one????

Hi Chris to get the game that’s stuck inside out, hold down the on off button on the front and switch on at the back you should hear the fan turn on and the door should open so you can retrieve your disc. It worked on mine.

Ok I'll try GAME in the morning then and see what they say, what if they say the same, where do I stand???

If they fob you off got to your citizens advice bureau and they will be able to help you further

as they are in breach of european trading law.

As a consumer you have rights

Can't anyone mention PS3 without another person jumping into a great console debate?

Ever since I've had a computer it's been:

Vic 20 vs ZX81

C64 vs Spectrum 48k/128 vs CPC464

Amiga A500 vs Atari ST 512 vs Archimedes (sort of)

Megadrive vs NES

PC vs Amiga A1200/3000 etc

Turbo GFX vs NeoGeo

Playstation vs N64

PS2 vs Xbox

Wii vs PS3 vs XBox360

PC vs Consoles for ever

I've owned them all and they all have their good games, bad games, positives and negatives.

Who gives a f**k if you think a 360 is better than a PS3, an XBox costs bog all, buy them both if you really must!

Hope you get your PS3 fixed easily. :)

Your contract under the Sale Of Goods Act is with the retailer, not with the manufacturer.

I played this card with my Xbox and got a new one as opposed to a refurbed, three year old one with some 16 year old jizz all over it.....;)

You are a bit grumpy tonight Pete. Anyway, I'm off to play COD4 on the Xbox as it's miles better than the PS3.....:p
