Shaking Steering Wheel

God i hate when the steerling wheels starts to shake :(. Got new coilovers fitted last week and when i hit about 120km - 130km the steering wheel starts to shake like mad.

The car was tracked the weekend as it was way off but made no difference, does anyone know what would caused it to shake just from changing my suspension?? Thanks in advance :)

You may have lost a balance weight from one of your wheels Claire.

To begin with you'd need to take the front wheels off and check for a small clean patch on the rim behind the spokes.

This clean spot may only be evident if it is a recent development, if its been a problem for a while you'll only know for sure if you get the front wheels balanced.

In fact just bring the car to a decent tyre depot and get them to check and balance the wheels, that way you won't need to re-do the manicure!

I had (have) this problem too. got the wheels balanced but it turned out to be the wheels themselves that are a bit oval. So they are beeing corrected and refurbed over the winter

Everything worked ok before the suspension was changed and i know he didn't damage my wheels

I had the same problem, turned out N\S front wheel was slightly buckled and also the plastic (collars?) were not in good nick so replaced with some steel ones. Now its very smooth over 100mph but was shaking like crazy at 60mph!

Good point, could a spigot ring have dropped out of the wheel when you were changing parts over?

I took a Hyundai Coupe in PX for another car once, none of the alloys had the rings in, very scary to drive beyond walking pace but smooth as you like once these were fitted.

If you normally have spigot rings whip the wheels off again and check they are still there, one might not be.

Poor you.

Indeed, it was a dark purple automatic too, not the most desirable machine but it sold on quickly enough. Colour was a lot like the Skyline dark purple that jumps out in the sunlight, sadly the rest of the car was nothing like a Skyline.

Luckily I only had to drive it around the block to check it was OK, it didn't become a daily driver :)
