2012: the NEW disaster movie from Roland (Independance Day, Day After Tomorrow) Emmerich.

It's got everything you could possibly want. HUGE waves, earthquakes, sh*t falling from the sky, buildings collapsing etc etc until you yawn in despair.

No giant killer robots though.

Anyhoo, watch this:

and then wonder if the next clip isn't more accurate. Warning: I found this clip made me LOL! :D

Honestly, why do/will people go and spend good money watching films that treat you like idiots?

I often wonder this. I see some absolute rubbish sometimes and think, WTF. We are definitely a race of stupid people though that don't like to push boundaries and think about anything other than explosions etc.

looks good if u ask me, the gfx could be special

That's all that these films are though. FX extravaganzas. I reckon they just get together and brainstorm all the unlikely things that they'd like to see.

For instance: That aircraft carrier being carried into the White House by a wave. If the views are correct and the image hasn't been reversed then the wave is coming from inland!

FAIL!

Leave me out of your sweeping generalisations, please.

I was really interested until you told me there were no giant killer robots! :(

Being that you posted a thread in NWS regarding explosion and boobies I'm afraid I can't. ;)

BOOM! BUSTED!

'Twas not a film though. I paid no money money for it and therefore didn't perpetuate a movie studio's belief that people pay to watch sh*te.

Personally, I thought the explosions and boobs site was lacking but linked it here because I thought it'd be liked (and that people might like me for posting it) and it didn't get a great response. So, meh....

You just have to look beyond your local multiplex or Sky TV and you'll find thousands of excellent films that don't have explosions, special effects, monsters and aliens etc.

Before I moved down south I used to go to cinema with my mates several times a week (£10 pm unlimted cinema). Some of the best movies I seen where Chinese, Japanese and Korean films that did not get major UK release.

Oldboy was excellent and the Japanese horrors where just on another level compared to mainstream big budget horrors from the US.
