Ian C
Check for error codes My guess is it's your No1 Vehicle Speed Sensor. Is the car converted to read MPH on the speedo? Does it go past 112mph? Dodgy convertor/delimiters are by far the most common cause of such a problem. -Ian
Snowyowl123
Mr IanC i cant thank you enough.Top link and as you diagnosed fault code 42 was found. Is the car ok to drive and what is the cure?A dodgy delimiter you rekon? Where is it and are they easy to replace? Sorry for all the questions...dense newbies have to learn somehow! Andy
Homer
Error 42 is nearly always a badly wired (or cheap ebay) speedo convertor or delimiter. The first thing to do is try and answer a few of the questions Ian mentioned (if possible), failing that, remove the dash panels and see what you have wired into the plug that goes into the back of the speedo cluster. Snowyowl123
both speedo and odometer read in MPH.Havnt tried to go past 112mph yet!
Homer
both speedo and odometer read in MPH.Havnt tried to go past 112mph yet! Well I wouldn't recommend you try it, obviously Can you take a look at what's wired in behind the dash and if possible take some good pictures of anything that is spliced into the speedo and odo plugs, plus where they connect to (Should be a little black box somewhere around there!). It'll really help diagnose the source of the error.
