steve spedd
Morning, with all these NA-TT conversions then going bpu (400 ish) can the NA diff and other associated drive components take this constant amount of power?? If not what is the best route of uprating?? cheers....
DamanC
Its the gearbox's you have to be worried about.....
dr_jekyll
diff , driveshafts and prop should be ok, the w58 wont be reliable at that power. a r154 swap would be the best cost affective solution, or if your flush the getrag and tt rear
steve spedd
R154 costs quite abit too, 250 for the box, you need the 1jz bellhousing 300, the flywheel 200, then the parts to extend so the gear stick sits right in the mkiv, a decent clutch and probably parts i dont know about. good 1000-1200. not far off getrag price... sure the diff will be ok? thanks for the replys!! Homer
Is it an LSD or non-LSD diff? It's going to be pushing it to near the limit either way. The LSD NA diff is a little stronger.
steve spedd
its an LSD homer. na-t running not much power. i'm faster then a tt, but not quite as fast as a bpu. so im guessing 350ish. Thinking of going up from 0.6 bar to 1...

Thinking of going up from 0.6 bar to 1... From what's been posted on here, it's BPU level power that can kill the 5spd, not heard of a diff going though. Good that you have the LSD version though as it's a little stronger, however it's normally the crown wheel that gets eaten which is the same for all NA models. I'd be more worried about the 3rd gear syncro than the diff tbh. Maybe get it mapped to 1.0 bar and drive at 0.8 and see how it works out. It's still very low boost so you're a long way from getting decent power from the turbo (on a genuine T61 it's only starting to work at 1.2 bar)
steve spedd
Thanks for the info... yeah i know the bpu is pretty much the limit of the w58. crowd wheel? thats a new one on me im afraid, would you be so kind as to fill me in on that?? i know Gaz (gazzagsi) had his box rebuilt and was running 450 ish. like your thinking about the mapping. might try for 1.2 and then start at 0.8, maybe work up slowly until it goes pop. then i know my limits but the crowd thingy im interested in.... steve spedd
have you stuck another w58 in and dropped the boost then?
