Animal
Pulled up at work this morning, turned car off and the ignition wouldn't go past the ACC point. Tried for about 5 minutes, starting the car, driving forwards and back, joggling gear stick to make sure it was in park, nothing. Had to turn round and set off home. Typical - I've just got home, turned the car off and the key came straight out. Tried it a few times and it does feel like there is a sticky point as you turn the key past ACC - after you push the key you can feel a little grind as it turns. Having searched, it looks like it's either the park sensor not registering, or the barrel is on it's way out. Now I did fit a Levoc shift lever last Saturday, but it's been working fine all week. When the monsoon stops, I'll go back out and have another look, but I'm thinking barrel. Does anyone know how much it is for a new one from Mr T that'll match my key? I'm presuming there will be a code on the barrel that I'd need to get the correct one.
Guest Garfy
I would check the link between that and the shifter being in park
JustGav
Have you tried pushing the red button and putting it into park?
Animal
The gear shifter seems to work fine - it goes into & out of park no problem and indicates 'P' on the dash. I'll go back out in a bit and pull the gear lever off and fiddle.
Konrad
Shift sometimes going to park and iluminate, but little black plastic part on it is still in down position, thus not allowing key to be taken of ignition.
SUPRALOOPY
Wiggle it in the park position. It sounds like the park switch has packed up. Try putting it in drive and then forcefully putting it in park.
