SteveR
Polite note: It happens in all the regional forums from time to time, but I've just moved a huge number of threads out of this region in particular that had nothing to do with an Event: where can I buy plugs, who can service a Supra, blah blah blah. There are sectons for that sort of discussion, this section has its own purpose. Thanks for your assistance.
JamieP
Crack that whip Steve, so is it just the Scots doing this or did you post in the wrong section?
SteveR
There were LOADS of threads in this, the Scotland Events forum. As I said it happens from time to time in all the regions, but this one seemed to be particularly bad.

SteveR
New Mod sydrome kicking in..LOL For the couple of years I spent as a regional Events Organiser, I always tried to keep the Midlands section tidy, but my main new duty as a Mod is to keep an eye on the other regions as well. marcAB10
I think the reason it happens a lot in the scottish section is because if your from Aberdeen or similar your about 100miles at least away from any kind of good supra specialist garage/supra civilisation.. plus there isn't a great deal of members from up up north so putting threads in the normal sections can get overlooked by the small amount of members up here.. there's more chance to get a better response and advice if it's in this section as it's a garuntee the scottish members will see it here.. otherwise the specific scotland threads are just lost unanswered most of the time. If your in England somewhere there's a lot of different regions that will be able to help that are not too far away.. but if your in scotland there's not really any other region that can help most of the time. I'm only refering to location topic here, such as 'where to get services in Aberdeen area' ect. Scott
As above, south of the border just don't like our kind. I struggle to get answers/responses at the best of times Its a nightmare as its mostly south of the border folks that have all the info lol

I was waiting for someone to say that. The "Supra Chat" forum gets 10 times as many viewings as all the events forums put together. Stick "...in Scotland" to the end of the thread title where you're asking such a question, and you can't go far wrong. If you wanted further evidence, several of the threads I moved out of this section had zero replies. If you (our Scottish members) REALLY do want a subset of forums similar to those we already have, but for Scotland only, suggest some sort of devolution. Otherwise, please keep things as they work for the rest of us. (jest!!)

I do completely understand.. but considering the scotland section is acctually an entire country section perhaps a little understanding of why some threads may be better in here could be understood.. Scott
How would "they" answer if you post out of their viewing habits? There is no Scots and the rest of the forum! I don't post in here bud, i always post in the main forum. I just meant i can understand why people do post in here. You end up with a complex on this forum, it seems that you need to have a certain name to get any reasonable answers on here... if any at all. I try to help as many people as i can, with my limited knowledge, but i do often see a lot of threads going unanswered. The Scot's in here have noticed that if they post in the Scot's area they tend to get an answer. Thats all i meant

SteveR
Just out of interest, where can I buy plugs Steve..... I've no idea, I scattered all those threads to the winds. Erm I mean I carefully selected the best forum for them. Try Parts Wanted. Actually I think the suggestion in response to the OP's question in that particular thread, was to try Envy. I understand why some threads end up in here (and the other regional events forums), but disagree that they are "better" off in here. Put "Scotland" in the thread title, start a community group for Scotish interests if you really, really need something more, but my request to all is please don't abuse the events sections. SteveR
I'll leave this thread open for a short while for people to air their opinions, then tidy it up and lock it - after all this is the events section.
marcAB10
the reason i say 'better' is because there is only about 7ish members from Aberdeen (the area i relate to) that actually post once in a while. Put an Aberdeen specific thread, even with the appropriate title in the 'supra chat' the chances of 7ish members who rarely post seeing it there are very very slim. Put the same thread in the 'scottish' section it may sit dormant for a while till the members see it but eventually you have a far better chance of getting an answer. so you would be better off putting it in this section. Logic.. But meh, none of the off topic threads in here were mine anyway, I could just see the logic of them being in here and expected the mods to see that too. I'm sure 90% of threads in here are meet threads.. i thought 10% area specific topics wasn't so bad. (and yes we could make a group but you know as well as i that people just won't check it very much, unlike this section) Edited July 23, 2009 by marcAB10 (see edit history)

SteveR
Events are events - if you want a seperate forum or place within the forum for everything else Scotland related for the Scots to check then or ask for one (club suggestions). If you can't make a Community group work for you, suggest something else. If a list of people who could service a Supra (or whatever) would be useful, create one for people's reference: asking in here may be less effort, but it isn't ideal. James
I'll start a group up. However, if it fails to succeed to the degree that a thread posted into the "Scotland" section does then you are for it, SteveR. (joking )

I'm all for this whole forum working as well as it can for its members, so if we can think of anything that works "best" then let's do it.
