dane_stone
Hi I had a accident in a hired Entiprise van bit of a bump and a scrape the othere week the excess was £600 on it. I've rung them up to ask what was happening with it and they have taken the £600 out of my account and told me they are not going to repair it cos of the age of the van but I still had to pay the excess. Was just wondering is this right can they take the money even thou there not repairing it. Thanks Dean
Shizzle
think that is right unfortunatly mate, if the damage would cost more than the value of the van to fix they'd obviously write it off.. when i had a write off many years ago they deducted the excess from my payout (essentially the same) so unless the van was worth less than £600 you'd be liable to pay the first £600 of any insurance claim.. im only guessing tho, im no expert
dane_stone
The thing that annoys me is I was told someone would ring me and tell me what would happen next and when the money would come out. Next thing I know the money has gone out of my account and i've not heard anything off enterprise till I rang them. there's no way it would of cost £600 aswell I have a body shop guy who lives down the road and he quoted £200 max for the repair and thats being ripped off as he would of fixed it for a crate of stella. RedM
The details would have been in the T&Cs that you WILL HAVE READ when you hired the vehicle.

supra_aero
That's a shame. Am impressed by your honesty to call them first without asking for advice on here first. They took the money I am sure to stop you repairing it and bringing it back dentless to save paying the excess. Its too late now - sorry to hear. If you had asked advice on here I'd have definitely said repair it and bring it back late (they normally only charge an extra days rental for each extra day) than get hit by the excess. You could even have rented another van and paid the higher insurance fee and swap the parts over if you are that way inclined . N/mind now anyway its too late - sorry to hear. supra_aero
You can always get them back by renting another van and pay the extra insurance - ask for the biggest nicest cleanest van they have and do some real damage with it

Guest Garfy
well, without reading all the small print, my thoughts would be, it was a £600 excess, so, that means that you pay the first £600 of any repair, if it doesn't cost that much then you don't pay that much, and, i'm my opinion, if they are not going to repair it, then you shouldn't have to pay anything. If only that were so.... But now they have to give the money for the Van to the people the guy hired it from so they get £600 of that from dane i would imagine
ivan
At my last place someone had the bright idea of selling the customers a Collision Damage Waiver for an extra £3 a day on their insurance. Within two weeks they'd withdrawn the offer because some Bradford guy wrote off a Porsch after paying the CDW.
