Guest suprastar
I got pulled over by the police last friday as they "noticed my exhaust" (their words, not mine) They did a road side sound check with their new sound recording toy. The final reading was 96db. They said it shouldn't be any louder than 90db and so gave me an on the spot £30 fine My exhaust is a blitz 3 inch free flow right through, with a full de-cat. I went and had another stainless silencer welded in behind the back box, I then knocked on the police door and asked if they could do a re-test, which they were pleased to do. The new silencer reduced it down to 93.4db but still not enough. Any ideas what to do next guys? Other than to start putting back the cats, i'm pretty much out of ideas. And before you ask....yes the back box center restrictor tube thats held in with a grub screw was and still is fitted.

Guest suprastar
Ha! Yep that's me!! A total conformist! He said next time it would be a "see you in court" and they are really clamping down on it. I asked them when I got the ticket, how would I know if I've sorted the problem, and they suggested that I went down the cop shop and ask for a re-test. The boys in blue were fine, when they know you're dealing with it, they were keen to try and help.
Thorin
Um, is this in England? Don't they just issue you with a vehicle defect form which you have to get a garage to agree you've rectified the fault? As the exhaust noise is just at the MOT testers discretion as to whether it's too loud or not you should be fine.
Jellybean
Would sport Cats help reduce the noise but retain the free flowing exhaust
Guest youngin_f_l
I've never been pulled over in mine, but I can imagine that I probably will be, its got a Kakimoto racing exhaust straight through to cat, and between 2k-3k RPM its ridiculously loud, 7-8k RPM sounds like an F1 car.....its ridiculous, but nice
