Not looking good for Porsche

When your Chief exec and your FD leave 'with immediate effect' something is a miss.

Something is indeed amiss, but it's probably corporate politics. As Pete says, I can't imagine for one minute that the brand will disappear. VW and Porsche have been trying to take each other over for a while I believe, and it might have got a bit nasty in the boardroom.

Even the older ones look kack IMO.....:sly:

Yeah, looks rubbish. Like, it aint got a shopping list on the side or nuffink, an' no fake carbon fiber (sic) in sight.

(Havard, I think I'm going to need the Kleenex.)

another overpriced make of car off the road, rode in a porsche caymen the other day. had a go. doesnt have the acceleration of my NA supe. and someone paid 50 grand for that! screw porsche! and the worst part is, its an 07 plate with barely 5k miles on the clock, and has an extra 500 cc in the engine bay!

Even the non 'S' model does 0-60 in 5.8 and 160mph top speed. The 'S' models are a match for a stock TT.

BTW: the Cayman is one of the best handling road cars around. Lighter than a 911 ;)

And mid-engined too, I'd love to see what a proper GT3 engined one could do :)

I can't see Porsche dissapearing off the planet anytime soon. They'll be bought out, and it will seem on the face of it that nothing has changed.

As for the Porsche slating going on. I agree on some points. Before I bought supra No'2, I flitted about between several cars. It was a toss up between the s2000 and the boxster S. The boxster is a better car, no doubt about it. But the owners club was filled with a bunch of turned up nose pretentiuos tossers who love the smell of their own sh1te. My first post was introducing myself and asking what peoples opinions were, with regard to what I can expect given my previous cars. I reeled a few off, Impreza, Supra TT, MR2 turbo..........

The very next reply was "it's people like you who bring the Porsche name down". That one single comment made me buy the s2000 instead.

Drivers aside though, Porsches are probably the 'only' usable supercar marque. They're unrivaled when it comes to build quality, and the mileages they seem to get too says it all. They also hold there money more than most.

If I had the money, I'd buy a fast Porsche tomorrow. (I just wouldn't join the owners club :D )

This should really come as no surprise to be honest.

Not a fan of the standard 911s....however their Turbos and GT2s, etc look fantastic.

Could it be that a few toyota owners a just jealous :D

Why is it every time people criticise porsches shite dated 911 design, people automatically say "jealous".

They don't do it when you criticise a lambo or ferrari.

They generally look crap and dated. I agree the gt2s and turbos though, they look okkk.

I often wonder about people who love 911s, is it because they live outside a major city and don't realise how common they are and what sort of people drive them?

To be fair if I lived in Bath or a village and saw them once a month I'd give them a tad more respect as I wouldn't know its clientelle etc.

But working in the city of London and living in London you just see how bad their image is (obviously the snobs and guys who want to impress their family/girlfriend will disagree).

I rest my case :p

P.S: you mention the word Dated - think you miss the point of why they choose to stick to it.

I'm not a fan of the Boxsters though. They seem to be mainly driven by people who would love a 911 but can't afford one (which could explain the aloofness). I'd hold out for a 911 (or one of its variants). :)
