Mike
German luxury car maker Porsche has said chief executive Wendelin Wiedeking and financial director Holger Haerter have resigned "with immediate effect". stevie_b
I'm sure the Porsche brand will carry on, but whether it will be independent or not is another question. Sounds like a takeover by VW is imminent.

AndrewOW
Nope, me neither. Not a fan of the overblown VW Beetle.
Wez
I was never a fan until I got a passenger ride in a 911 GT3 RS round Brands Hatch, that quickly changed my mind, lovely bit of engineering
DanBEXsupra
another overpriced make of car off the road, rode in a porsche caymen the other day. had a go. doesnt have the acceleration of my NA supe. and someone paid 50 grand for that! screw porsche! and the worst part is, its an 07 plate with barely 5k miles on the clock, and has an extra 500 cc in the engine bay! Gaz6002
It makes me laugh how people can simply dismiss this iconic brand. Shame. Porsche cars were always something special.
stevie_b
I agree Gaz, I think the 911 is a real icon. From what I've read (I've never been in one, more's the pity) it performs brilliantly too. The Italian supercars look lovely, but I get the impression they can be a bit tempramental in the mechanical and reliability departments. Not the 911. It goes well, stops well, corners well. What more do you need?

Did you turn the key in the ignition? Caymans are quick, and would have no trouble dispatching an NA. Show it a back road and most TTs on here would struggle to keep up. Porsches are excellent, as 99% 99.9% of people who have driven them will tell you.

I ONLY JUST had the edge, and we're talking maybe 1-2 car lengths from 50-100 leptons. They're cracking cars.
DanBEXsupra
maybe its mullered then. i floored it engine was hot and already at 3k RPM, mind you it is a business car. probably been ragged, guy crashed it the day after... lol

Gaz6002
BTW: the Cayman is one of the best handling road cars around. Lighter than a

Gaz6002
To look good and sound good. Are you saying a Porsche doesn't sound nice?! I think they look pretty good too.
AndrewOW
Nope. I've never liked the powerful 'Beetle' sound. They all look the same nowadays, and are more common down this way than Scoobies, so please can they introduce a few new designs in this new company? Abz
Very sexy...as mentioned they have reliability compared to most Supercars, 911's can see 100k easily with the build quality. They are expensive but you are paying for a good badge which has years of experience! I drove a Carrea4S which sounded soooo amazing! I wanted my Supe to sound like that, they handle brilliantly as well.

j_jza80
They sound great, although the off beat note of the flat 6 might be an aquired taste for some. I don't think the newer ones sound as nice.

And Porsche haven't been making air-cooled engines for years have they?
