Chris Wilson
Had a car in today with serious boost problems. It had a Tial 38 mm wastegate, correctly plumbed, but boost was erratic and not responding properly to either electronic boost controller settings, or basic spring pressure adjustment. I had recommended he get a Tial, as, for the money, they are excellent and for anything better you are looking at maybe three times the price. I had recommended a place to buy one, too, but he'd been lured by the great God Ebay.... Turned out to be some Chinese fake, but hey, he'd saved 100 quid or so. Yeah... right! http://www.tialsport.com/realvsfake.html

RobSheffield
What sort of spec was on it Chris?
paul mac
all to common on fleabay i'm afraid and they are pretty cunning at doing it as well, going to great lengths to hide the fact they are based in China
Chris Wilson
What sort of spec was on it Chris? It was a Renault 5 Turbo 2, the mid engined Group B homologation one. I still do a few of these, I had one for 12 years myself. Considering how much he'd spent on other stuff it seems ridiculous to buy an iffy WG to save a few bob. Now he has to buy another and *ugger about fitting it.
