L33
not a clue....pretty stumped to be honest, like i said you can clearly see the 2 sensors, and if one was faulty then it wouldnt show a reading not show a simular one? i havent pulled the gauges out yet or disconnected from the defi control box yet like i said one is in oil temp and one in water temp but that shudnt matter?! Scott
As far as I know a temp sensor is a temp sensor
dude
well ive found the problem and sods law it only dripped a few times when on the ramp even tho we left it running, reved a bit and then cooled down but we didnt need the drip to see what the problem was the gearbox sump gasket appears to be perished and a little bit of sealer seems to be flaking off! around the fixings the gasket is sticking out and seems like its falling apart. can push it with you finger and its spongy and small bubbles of oil are coming out will get hold of toyota and order a new gasket so i can change that. the toyota garage is next door to my office which is handy stil a nusiance having to do this and cost more money They should not have a gasket on at all dude, the gearbox sumps are silocone sealed from the factory

Scott
o..... so what do i do to stop the leak? more sealant around the sump? Ahh, its the same as the engine oil sump then. Take off the sump, remove all the old tat and then re-seal it

dude
yea and that stuff aint cheap so i will reuse the stuff my family friend mechanic is getting said its about 20 quid Make sure both surfaces are nice and clean and do NOT put loads on, it will squish into the sump and can block filters etc.
L33
the pics dont make the turbo look as big as it actually is! and a bit of a update on the breather system, the left side of the rocker cover goes into the catch can and the right side goes throught a non return valve and then into the intake on the right which apparently is fine even tho its silicone

JamieP
Mate get rid of the silicon pipe on the breather, silicon is no good for oil vapour and that pipe is far to small.

L33
well i sorted the leaking gear box sump today was a bit of a horror seeing the mess of it when i took it off i found a gasket which looks like it had been reused a few times and then 2 colours of sealant from previous times its been apart so wud explain the leak so i sorted that out today, cost me 50 in all, 20 for the sealant and 30 for ramp hire time! 50 i shudnt of had to spend!! was interested to see what the turbo looked like with out the induction so whipped that off quickly but on the positive today i drove to a dvla office and had my number plate assigned to the car and i fitted a TRD half carbon spoiler

I didn't top up I changed it completly so its not mixing as I had no idea what was in there looking at the state of the gasket don't think some one cared any way Edited February 27, 2010 by L33 (see edit history)
