L33
ive been boxing for a while now and to be honest my diet it bad, i dont eat any fruit or veg, and its only cuz i dont actually like them! so the foods i do eat, which is very little, isnt great for nutritian. so im thinking about meal replacement drinks. maximuscle do a shake called pro diet, that replaces breaky and dinner, so still leaves you with one meal you have to sort, but provides good levels of all the other stuff you should get from food. im not on a diet but i just need the "good" nutritian and muscle repair for training. does any one use any thing like this, and have any advice or warning ect? cheers

Shizzle
while what people is saying above is true MRP's have worked for me in the past to a degree. My diet was rubbish and i thought meal replacements + multi-vitamins would be all i needed. but if your not eating the right foods along side no supplementation is gunna be your holy grail. I went over a year thinking spending all this money on supplements would get me my perfect body, was only after a big wake up call from friends etc that i realised i was never gunna get anywhere without changing my lifestyle, ive started to eat fruit and veg which i used to hate.. cut out crappy carbs like white bread completely, built up my protein intake (from actual food not shakes) and now except my 1 cheat day a week my diet is really getting somewhere.. but still not perfect my advice would be to build up slow.. get yourself accustomed to proper food again 1 stage at a time, but in the mean time use the Meal Replacements and multi-vitamins etc to give your body something to work with, rather than nothing. the main reason u dislike these foods is because u never eat them, i literally forced myself to try new foods almost urging to begin with, but my last meal of the day i would make something i really enjoyed.. now over time ive actually made fruit my treats during the day etc my 2 penny's anyway
simonsupra
meal replacements are if u want to loose weight buddy. dont beleive all the crap about oh its good if u cant find the tme to eat. make some sandwiches and take em to work or cook some chicken the night before take it to work the next day and eat it, perfectly safe to do so i used to do it all the time, derek poudstone does it. tuna mayo and some pasta in a tupperwear container, yoghurts, cereal bars ham and cheese sandwiches. can u tell i disagree with MRP plus maximuscle is over rated and expensive IMO
RedM
What EXACTLY don't you like about fruit and veg? Do you extend that dislike to ALL fruits and vegetables? I really have a hard time understanding this kind of BS fussy eater crap.
L33
They also stop me buying Peanut KitKat bars lol i havent tried them yea i like jacket potatoes ect, but dont eat any greens, just carrots, and only fruit i like is apples, but its got so boring a mix of apples and carrots! i try to eat pasta and rice, but some times you cant even pop into asda for example and get a pasta bowl if i dont have time to make some thing, have you seen the nutrician values on them? calories are really high, as are most things. you would think pasta would be healthy! for breaky i have cereal like shreddies or some thing like that for the fiber lunch i usually have 2 cheese rolls, and a bag of fruit flakes, but i think there more like sweets but there made by fruit bowl. its fruit i actually like so i eat it then my tea is usually some thing with meat, like home cooked chips with chicket steaks, or a pasta kinda thing and thats about it i weigh 12 stone, and thats the same food rutine every day! lol! so thats y i need to change as its pants! seem to still look half toned, like i got a slight 4 pack but a 6 pack is miles away even tho i do boxing twice a week, then some times go for a run. and i have quite a physical job. been told its my body holding onto its food because i dont eat enough? You've probably seen the series. Fussy Eaters I think it's called. Me and the missus sit there calling them all the names under the sun. None of them polite. Usually they turn out to be big babies who have mum and dad issues. Is that you?

I really have a hard time understanding this kind of BS fussy eater crap. some people just have crap diets.. without sounding like a sob story from jeremy kyle.. i grew up with my parents working all hours i was left to myself and never had cooked meals round a table.. i practically lived off toast and cereal, eventually i ballooned to over 20 stone before deciding to sort myself out, so sometimes it isnt crap.. id never grown up with the food, so never liked it, and trying to get urself to enjoy and try these new foods you'd never felt the texture of, or taste of by the time ur past ur teens is hard.. but i did it

Peas. There are many different varieties each tasting different. So it must be a texture thing. Either that or you've looked at the typically limited range of food that we eat over here and then written the whole lot off. Whatever, I'd get to a doctor because it'll do you no good in the long-term. If you have to eat meal replacements (and/or supplements) to compensate rather than supplement (see? the clue is in the name) then you have problems. Get it sorted properly rather than trying for a quick fix.
L33
my mum cant cook, so its always oven stuff, and she is over weight so fruit and veg has never been available (yes i stil live at home at 22) i therfore cant cook either but i try to keep fit and not eat a lot so i dont become over weight, its just a fact the food i do eat isnt very nutricianal? this is why ive asked about these shakes as a start so im at least getting some sort of goodness where im not getting it through food im just always sleepy and lathargic so im trying to change
RedM
Seriously, chap. Get yourself to the docs or a dietician. Get checked out and try to work out why you don't like the 'feel' of fruit and veg. There is a reason for everything. The sleep/lethargy thing is concerning.
L33
ive always had it, just always tired! ive been to docs incase it was diabetic but results were fine! restless night sleeps dont help, some times find it hard to sleep even tho tired a lot, again been docs and they said read b4 bed!! so it has to be the diet, a dietitian will only tell me what to eat, its down to me to eat it! i am going to try to do it myself tho
RedM
Can you eat beans and pulses? What about soup? Why not get a load of veg and blend it all up into a thick soup. You'll get the benefits without the odd texture sensation. I still reckon you need to do some digging as to why it affects you like that though.
