Multics
"I know, lets put a 1.0L Fiesta against a Subaru and see what happens." Not quite, the fact that they took the GT-R as a benchmark says a lot! I think it's a real compliment for the GT-R to be against what people consider being the greatest and best car of all times (Veyron). The GT-R is a remarkable car another way of looking at this is: It takes a Veyron to beat it...
marc_p
I suppose I'm in a small minority that really doesn't like the Veyron, it's a very ugly car and way overpriced, give me a GTR anyday:)

Scott
Good point - F1 cars have less power now! The extra power needed to get from 220mph to 250mph is phenominal. The question therefore, is did it only get to a terminal speed of 220mph because drag & power became equal, because it ran out of road (erm), because they ran out of gears (hmm), or because it wasn't safe to go above that speed for some reason (surely not - going fast is what these cars, drivers & engineers do best). The problem with the F1 cars is downforce. F1's put down a silly amount of DF at 100mph let alone over 200mph. The friction approaching 220 must be unbelievable, the veyron won't be putting down anywhere near as much downforce. Drag will have a fair bit to do with it but the F1 cars are designed to be slippery. What is the trim of the F1 car that set the record? 800bhp? Pretty sure lambo's beat 220 without that sort of power? Correct me if i'm wrong though. As they want to do it "race legal" they are going to be up against it IMO. RiceRocket
The extra power needed to get from 220mph to 250mph is phenominal. Extra 8bhp for every incremental 1mph I believe.

Guest daz 6576
i want to see that veyron vs a 1000 bhp supra with a stroaker kit and see what happens. soon knock em down a peg or two
Scott
i want to see that veyron vs a 1000 bhp supra with a stroaker kit and see what happens. soon knock em down a peg or two If only it was that simple. Take a 1000hp sup vs a 1000hp veyron on a track and i think you would be surprised (i don't think most would though to be honest). Everything about they veyron, from the ground up, has been designed to handle and use 1000hp effectively. In a straight line a supra MAY catch and pass a veyron, in fact it probably would, but as soon as it comes to the twisties it would be a different kettle of fish. You do realise the lag generated with 1000hp supra's don't you? You couldn't get the power down coming out of a corner etc etc etc. I was going to put lots of info but there really is no argument. Yep very true... hence why the Veyron has 4 turbo's to help it out of the twisties where as a 1000bhp Supra would most likely have just a big single turbo. kill1308
I've no doubt in mind a Veyron would destroy any supra round a track, it's sheerly a marvel of engineering and is all in respects, a masterpiece of automotive design, still looks bloody awful though lol. The back end is about the only half decent angle... as much as I hate the car, I also admire it.

Clearly not the target market for the Veyron, probably wishful thinking to suggest that you were for the GTR either
