RedM
Part One: http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetevovideos/238312/bugatti_veyron_and_nissan_gtr.html Part Two: http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetevovideos/238312/video_202798/bugatti_veyron_and_nissan_gtr.html Part one ends with the GT-R passing the stationary Veyron at about 100mph. The Veyron then takes off after it. Camera is on the GT-R looking back. Part two ends the same way but is in-car with the Veyron. It's no spoiler to tell you that the Veyron monsters the GT-R. Oh, and I couldn't embed the vids. Sorry.

RedM
I like the commentary from inside the Datsun in the second video. "It's going away, isn't it?. No doubt it's quicker." Understatement!
snake
why did he bother weighing them, did the "Datsun"have lead weights in the boot

Gaz6002
Will an F1 car do 253mph? Not in race spec because it all depends on gearing. It'll certainly hit 200mph before the Bug though.
Abz
16 cylinders... 4 turbo's... £850k, not really comparable against a £60k 4 seater Nissan The veyron is quite over-rated in my books, quite a few of my friends are extremely fond of it, esp the ones who keep mentioning that its the first car ever to reach 1000bhp (don't worry, have corrected them)! Though on a racetrack with some twisties I think this would be a different story... Nice video's though
Guest exceed
I'd take the GTR and spend the money I saved on performance mods and buy a house, and with the money left over go on holiday for a very long time...

You say it's over-rated, but there really isn't another road-going production car like it. It's a huge leap forward in technology. Oh, and it's the first mainstream production car to hit 1000bhp, but only if Bugatti unlock it once you've passed an advanced driving test they set. If not it's 'only' 750bhp. R Black
Thought they peak at like 210, is'nt a lot of that due to large amounts of downforce, they can change the wing angles to increase top end no? How long was that strip? long enough to reach Bugatti's top speed?
Matt H
Best car in the world. Pure brilliance I very much doubt the Veyron would have any trouble beating the Datsun around a track. It would certainly beat it. Even on a small track like top gears the times are better. If not it's 'only' 750bhp. Then you get in touch with Ryan G - Whip the cats out and give it a good remap Thought they peak at like 210, is'nt a lot of that due to large amounts of downforce, they can change the wing angles to increase top end no? How long was that strip? long enough to reach Bugatti's top speed? Not it will do 256, but you have to turn the key in a special slot that puts the car into top speed mode. Lowers and the spoiler doesnt come out. If you twitch the steering past a certain degree, it switches out of top speed mode. Another amazing thing about the Veyron, is they gaurantee you 1001bhp. So in order for that to be the case, they are slightly over that. So you may have 1001, or you may have 1101! Awesome I heard the new Veyron is supposed to be touching 1350 Bhp and a 260+ MPH top end? Anyone know anything more on that subject? erol_h
Today i was driving down park lane and behold a veyron comes out infront of me i had to look twice. seeing the car in the flesh my god does it look better than in videos when i got beside it the driver was a worker from the dorchester hotel delivering the car to the owner lucky c*nt. I asked him to rev the engine but he hesitated saying he can't but then he couldnt resist and what a mighty roar.

Is that the place near the 'Mad Mile' on the DCW, top of the hill? Lots of nice cars in there. When I went past a few months back there was a Koenigsegg in there as well. SteveR
That's from 3 years ago though Stevo! Technology should of moved on quite a bit since then, perhaps......... Good point - F1 cars have less power now! The extra power needed to get from 220mph to 250mph is phenominal. The question therefore, is did it only get to a terminal speed of 220mph because drag & power became equal, because it ran out of road (erm), because they ran out of gears (hmm), or because it wasn't safe to go above that speed for some reason (surely not - going fast is what these cars, drivers & engineers do best). If you mean the main dual carriageway that leads into Banstead Village, then yes, as they do have enough exotic cars there to fill anyone's car fantasies! Dam you Matt, you beat me too it! At the begining of the Top Gear video JC says because this is a power track the GTR will not do that well but it pitched a 1:19.7 which was slightly shy of the 1:18.3 by the Veyron. Overated I mean by having so much technology and and costing close to the £1 million mark it is compared against like you say the Datsun. Other cars which I can think of which are just as good as the Veyron are like the Ascari A10, Koeningsegg CCX, Pagaini Zonda F or even the sexy LP670-4. I very much doubt the Veyron would have any trouble beating the Datsun around a track. You would have thought so, but the Datsun has clocked the nurburgring in 7mins 29seconds and the Veyron did it in 7mins 40seconds. In my opinion a true production car with a 3.8 V6 engine and 4 seats in no way should be quicker round a track than a Veyron, thats logic speaking, but it is. Saying all that, I still think the Bugatti Veyron is a great car!
kill1308
I love the technology behind the Veyron and I love the sound it makes and the fact that it is what it is. However I genuinely think it looks like shit... all that money spent on it and they bang on some awful headlights that look like they've come directly off an A4 or a Passat or something... and two tone paint....? (I know you don't have to have this though). Give me a Zonda or a Koenigsegg any day of the week. Plus I think I must be the only one that thinks this test was totally pointless.... "I know, lets put a 1.0L Fiesta against a Subaru and see what happens."
