RedM
Don't vets have their own forums or helplines? Have you tried emailing Rolf Harris?
Holden1989
Is that for horses or men? Well, you have been known to get on your hands and knees once in a while so it may be applicable to you also
Roxy_Woos
Im doing a case on an geriatric labrador with a lower gastrointestinal tract disease. The lab had haemorrhagic diarrhoea and vomiting; i have to discuss in detail the the effects the body would undergo with a GI infection/disease, i.e the small and large intestines. The lab had haemorrhagic diarrhoea and vomiting; i have to discuss in detail the the effects the body would undergo with a GI infection/disease, i.e the small and large intestines. You could write a whole book on that subject! Is there anything you're struggling with in particular? The small intestine's function is the final digestion and absorption of nutrients. If it is damaged this doesn't happen properly so more food than normal reaches the LI. This causes diarrhoea due to osmosis (water balances out the undigested stuff) which tends to be loose, infrequent and large in quantity. The large intestine absorbs water so if it's damaged you get smaller amounts of diarrhoea that is very watery. The main worry in uncomplicated cases (dietry upset) is dehydration due to excessive water loss. Clinical changes would include pale MM, increased CRT, lethargy, sunken eyes etc. If it's haemorrhagic you can also get anaemia but it would have to be pretty extreme

I recommend lemsip and a wank. uh oh,... actually, I think that only applies to Supra owners. Better not try that on a dog.
