csa
So after having 2 different types of fuelhoses being eaten up in the tank I thought I'd better ask the experts. What kind of hose do you guys use when installing dual regular walbro pumps in the tank?
michel lane
standard goodyear fuel hose
Wez
Fuel hose
Kranz
One that contains flourocarbon rubber would be best. High pressure fuel hose of some type I'd expect would work.
paul mac
neoprene is also fuel resistant, if you are having trouble getting the correct hose from i presume car shops i would go to a hydraulic specialist (most industrial estates will have one) and tell them exactly where the hose is going this should ensure you get the correct grade

Thats fine for carrying fuel/oil. Not is it's submersed in it though.

Chris Wilson
Actually immersion hose is rare, I'd bet the majority of hydraulic places won't have it, or even know where to get it. Gates are the only people I have seen specifically list a hose for tank immersion in modern unleaded gasoline. It's hard to track down helpful Gates stockists in the UK, too, so maybe he's best going to the horse's mouth, Gates themselves?

dandan
OK fellas - how about SAE J30R6?
csa
well SAE J30R6 is just regular std fuel hose isn't it?
dandan
I'm not sure off the top of my head Christian, it could well be. I'm going to try to get some of the R10 this week....
csa
could you let me know where you get it, or even by me a meter or 2 and ship it over for proper payment ofcourse :-)
dandan
Is anyone using this approved submerged fuel hose or are "we" all using normal injection hose?
csa
I must admit I havent had the time to dig deeper into this. But I will deffo get hold of some during the winter when the car is off the road.
dandan
Nobody around me seems to know what it is and I get a lot of air sucking through teeth when I mention anything beyond SAE30 - R6. I do have the Gates part and product numbers for the R10 stuff at home .... Does anybody know anyone who works somewhere that supplies Gates hose...specifically automotive? Chris Wilson
Gates are getting back to me with a UK distributor of this stuff.
dandan
If they say GP Automotive or Universal Automotive in Kidderminster be sure to ask for someone else as these guys do not stock it anymore despite what Gates say.
dandan
Edit: I got some I have 10ft of the 7.9mm bore SAE30-R10 fully immersible stuff coming to me from Belgium - should be in my hand in about two weeks. I had a mild panic when deciding how much to order so I overestimated by about 9.5 feet as I figured some of you guys would want some as well and it seems like such a b@stard to track down. Once I get it I'm happy to sell some lengths to people at my cost plus the delivery. It should be something like about £14 per foot I think.
