will using 95RON fuel destroy my car?

my mate (owns a Skyline) has indicated that using regular unleaded will damage and destroy my engine and that I should be using at least super unleaded and ideally Optimax.

I drive a basic un-upgraded Japanese Twin Turbo and the other day I HAD to use regular unleaded as there were no super unleaded stations nearby and now it's worrying me a bit...

Anyone give any realistic (with proof if possible) stories of whether it's good/bad/what it means/does to use lower octane fuel? Also what does "pinking" or "knocking" sound like for my reference?

Thanx,

Ice

I used to run low octane before but that was due to non-availability of higher octane. Be sure not to wind up the boost cause it will definately retard on the timing due to knock.

So my suggestion is use the best fuel you can buy esp: Supra!! Fill up with 97+ octane also some injector cleaner and run for about 20 miles after that re-set your ECU for 5min so your timing and fuel map is re-programmed to the new fuel.

Believe me you car will feel much faster/responsive with the new setting.:)
