far
Dudes on a larger engine diesel ( e60 bmw 530d) if the turbo is audiable to the point where you can hear a whistle with the window down could this be a failing turbo or would this be regarded as normal? Plugging it into a computers I am getting MAF sensor error - was thinking poss leak somewhere in one of the pipes? I thought I would ask here as quite few of you have oil burners for your daily drivers

If it was a leak wouldnt I be loosing performance or experiencing flat spots? Whats the best way to test for leaks?

Kirk
my mates got a 535d, his whistle like a TT! arnt they set up on sort of sequential mode on 5 series?
absz
might be worth inspecting the turbo but if you have a split from the intake pipe to turbo it can give a whistle. and error codes.

far
better be safe than sorry mate, if it worries you just get it checked! 280! crikey ok, probably sound advice, im just not sure what to get the garage to check for in terms of leaks. Yeah the remap is well within safe limits too, theres e60s that have done over 100k with the map It does still seem a little slower than my supra did though

Guest cathalferris
sounds more like a split or loose high pressure intake hose. a pinhole will whistle nice and loud. Get someone to floor the throttle with the bonnet up, you may be able to locate the source of the air leak. Look for signs of oil spray as the crank-case ventilation may be venting into the intake pre-turbo (by design), and this will aid leak location,

Everything is under a big plastic cover in this car so will take it off and have a butchers tommorow cheers
