Depends on what your view of fate actually is. Mine is that the entirety of history and the future is already laid out. You think that your decisions are your own but really you are destined to make the decision the way you end up making it. Just as its not possible to alter history (yeah you can rewrite it the way you like it) its not possible to alter the future either, what will happen, will happen end of.

I believe that we are the creators of our own destinies, not fate.

we choose the path to go down and things happen because of that

remember the bloke that let the lady in front of him in the lottery que for a lucky dip she won 72million. i wonder if he believes in fate

You cant stop fete, my village fete happens every year and theres just no escaping it.

Is it like the Tewkesbury fete? They have one every year too, and there's loads of fights... I also think the rides are crap :)

Fate?, of course.

Like the woman who missed the Air France flight that fell into the Atlantic a few weeks ago, only to be killed in a car crash a week later

:(

I don't think you can attribute that to fate. That's just a coincidence that's well within the bounds of statistics. Out of everyone on an aeroplane, it's quite likely that a small number of them will die soon after their flight. Over the course of a few air crashes, it's statistically plausible that one of those people may have missed the flight that goes on to crash.

Some decisions have divergent consequences though: by this I mean a tiny change in the conditions of the decision cause large changes in the consequences. One example is me buying a "lucky dip" lottery ticket. IIRC the lottery computers choose a set of random numbers that hasn't yet been chosen for that draw, assuming such a set exists. Delaying buying my ticket for 10 seconds will almost certainly mean that I'm given a different set of numbers.

I could try to muck up the course of actions that fate has planned for everyone by delaying or moving forward such decisions by enough time to change their consequences. Of course, if fate *knew* I was going to behave like that, then it would always be one step ahead of me. :)

That's bound to happen to most people who win the lottery. I bet everyone who wins has a similar story about how they managed to get to the queue in front of someone else, or how they allowed someone else in front of them.

The lottery is great for people thinking that fate exists. Winning the lottery is an extremely unlikely event for any one person (.e.g *you*), but it's quite likely that *someone* will win it each week. Each winner can attribute their winning to fate circumstances, but it happens each week to someone.

I find things like this facinating. I dont know if any of you remember but I posted up a while back about my engagement being on the rocks and eventually we ended things and I was very upset and felt like I had lost a soulmate and vice versa. The girl I am currently with at the moment I met very randomly and was a wonder I even met her at all but somehow did. I had been in Camden all day at a music festival and had been drinking with freinds throughout the day. When it got to the evening we kinda got separated from one another and I was just with my mate Jamie from work who likes a drop of ale and had had a bit to much and was wasted. Needless to say he got turned away from the music places we wanted to go to becuase he was to drunk. So I was hacked off obviously but didnt wannna just go in and leave him on his own + didnt know where everyone else had got to, so decided to head home. On the way home my mate nick txt me and asked if I wanted to go out. I told him I was on the train and wasn't sure as I was in a foul mood having to leave london early becuase of my mate being drunk. When I got home I was well not up for going but though F-it and phoned him and said lets go. That night the girl I am now seeing had a very similar dilema and wasn't going to go out either but thought sod it and went along as well and we met that night and hit it off. It was weird too as I saw her and had an overwheling urge to talk to her....there was just something in my head that was saying "you have to talk to this girl" so I did and the rest is history. Were soooo similar and have a real connection , so I kinda see this as fate saying we would meet each other on that night

And......add to the fact that she only came over because her mate loved how our friend Wade was dancing and we have not been to a club with this guy for 5 years or so. :)

something strange happens to my digital watch when I look at it. I have heard voices, seen auras, and seen coathangers be dowsed around a person.

I sense a timeline and some greater power, but do not belive in God or fate.

I have sensed people approaching when they were way beyond earshot and my line of sight.

Stuck in a wardrobe again?

yes. The one in your mind.

Where ever it is, COME OUT OF THE CLOSET Carl, come right out. :)

How does one escape from Narnia?...

EDIT : He's got a lion and a witch in there too, he might find them sexy?...

lol.

You have the key to the one in your mind, so I invite you to let me out.

Fantastic twist. As for my closet, let my perception of the world be my closet, and to leave it be as to shuffling off the mortal coil. The mind is purposeful, and can make a heaven out of hell and a hell out of heaven and all the shades in between.

yeah man, there was wax everywhere, on the walls, the ceiling. I only do it once a year, so I make a big ceremony about it. Play music, invite some friends.

But seriously back on topic, I was not lying. I can't explain my experiences I just know that they happen.

Some people see ghosts, some ufo's, me, any digital watch I wear does strange things.

We just have to live our lives, becuase what ever this force is...fate, God, I am pretty sure we cannot harness it, exploit it, or make money from it or whatever.

Mind you... Uri gellar...
