What did you start as 6 years ago??

Started as web developer but them moved on to engineer within about 6 month (I was crap!)

lol to be fair we only have about 40 users in our company so it's hardly the most taxing job in the world. Luckily... got rid of NT4 just before xmas (the server died somehow :innocent: ) and got myself a new 2003 box :)

I went to Uni and would highly recommend it to anyone just because of the personal development and the ideas it gives you the time to develop - as well as the people you meet.

I worked a year out before Uni at the company that sponsored me to go to Uni as well as during the summer vacs.

Often working straight out of the box means you dont get the time to discover skills or passions you can otherwise do during early years at Uni (if you want to) - mind you this was 15 years ago when there was a good grant :-)

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm a lorry driver delivering and installing vending machines and coolers for Coca-Cola which I do enjoy (plus pays well enough for the toys :D ).

But feel it might be time to go back to shopfitting now this Working Time Directive has been enforced on the Transport industry. :complain:

I joined the Army at 16, (4 O levels and 5 CSE's), Did a 2 year apprenticeship to become an Armourer, and I am still doing it (Armourer - Not apprenticeship)

Mostly Examination and repair of Small Arms, Machine guns, Mortars, Pistols, Rifles, Rocket Launchers and Cannons. 18 years now and mostly running fitter sections of engineers but still love it, still wanting to leave, still hate it, still enjoy the variety. The Army encourages you and can contribute towards the payment to train in other areas though so i also qualified in and reglarly do: Noise assessments, H&S Advice (Nebosh Diploma), Aerobics and Step class instructor, IT manager and repair, Radiation supervisor, Fire officer, Basketball Referee and coach, Tennis coach, Tug of war coach, Door supervisor, close protection, welding, electronics, and loads of other (sometimes) handy skills - lifes never dull!!!
