Nikon D80 with 18-105mm lens

I've just upgraded to a D90, so I'm selling my Nikon D80 bundled with the 18-105mm lens that came with the D90 kit.

D80 body...

Bought new in March 2007, approx. 3500 shutter actuations.

In virtually as new condition, everything works perfectly.

All standard accessories included (strap, battery, charger, cables etc).

18-105mm zoom lens...

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR.

VR = Vibration Reduction, a very useful feature with a zoom.

Brand spanking new!!

Comes with a bag and a hood.

Bonus items...

SanDisk Extreme III 2GB SD memory card.

Hoya 67mm UV filter.

The price is based on what I see D80's in great condition selling for (about £325 seems fair, but one just sold on ebay for £380!), plus what I effectively paid for the lens (about £125 - the cheapest I've seen to buy this lens new separately is about £200).

£450 £430 + postage.

any shots with that lens that I could see? at 105mm? maybe one around 70mm too?

I wonder what this makes my d70 worth? I would only want the upgrade for the bigger screen, mines tiny :(

I know the feeling... used my d40x after a few weeks on my d300 haha, so light, small and the bloody screen!!!

BTW - Saw a D70 and lens go for about £200 on ebay... actually think it was the 18-105mm

I haven't used the lens at all, as I only bought it to make this a ready-to-shoot setup. But I guess I should check it works at least - is there a particular aspect of it you'd like to check out?

To be honest, I expected a DSLR newbie rather than an upgrader, at this price! I'm tempted to put you off this and make you save up for a D90 and 18-200mm lens like I've got, I think you'd make good use of such a setup :)

ouch, I havent opened a camera magazine or looked at a review since I bought the 70.

Have the nikons really come that further now to be worth making an upgrade?

I don't know enough about the D70 to comment on how much of a step up the D80 would be, but going from D80 to D90 I'm not disappointed - it's not so much that anything's taken a giant leap forward, rather that lots of minor improvements add up. I would've been quite happy to continue using my D80 for a good while longer, but I'm wagering that the upgrade to the D90 (when it comes) won't be as much of a step forward, so I decided to upgrade now.

Doubt it was the 18-105 because it's quite a recent lens :) But bodies definately go down in price quite quickly. Looking at completed listings the D70 body goes for a random price between 160 and 200 (often not many bidders), and then there's a fair few with an 18-70mm (was that the kit lens?) sold for about 250-ish. :search:

(Yes, I know it's focussed on the fence in the last one, but it's started raining again so I can't redo right now!)
