wkdtime
As some of you are aware, I sold my Single Supra some years back now and totally loved the car to bits but fancied a change at the time (So I thought). In the last few months I have been putting some cash away for a new ride, now my choices are down to these two cars; 1. Supra TT BPU (Not going to go single) enough power for my needs. 2. Facelift E46 M3 Convertible (As they now nicely fall within my budget) I have a budget of 13-15k. I’m not asking which the is faster car etc cus we call is know which wins hands down in that contest. I genuinely am confused, I really don’t know which way to edge and I certainly don't want to buy something I’m going to regret. I'm not after raw power but then again I would want something that can at least shift on the motorway, the car will be my weekend toy as I currently have a diesel for my daily trips to work. I know it impossible to compare both of these cars as they are very different, but if you were in my position which one would you choose and why? Scott
Weekend toy it has to be the supra. The BMW is a perfect compromise between fun and practicality. Your not looking for practicality and the supra, IMO, is much more fun. You could have an astounding example BPU with a budget like that. michael
I wouldn't consider either to be special enough to take weekend toy status, both are sound daily drivers with the E46 having the edge due to it's extra creature comforts. If it's a dedicated weekend toy you should get something daft like a TVR. If you are set on those 2 options I'd go with the Supra, I'd be tempted to buy a ready-made single that's known to the club and proven reliable if it's a weekend thing though. stevie_b
I doubt you'll regret either. Have a look at both, and see what gets you excited the most!

Id have both if I had the money, definately would not be after a single. Anyone driven/owned both?
michael
Anyone driven/owned both? Jake has both at the moment I think and a few people have moved to the M3 and posted up about it. There are a couple of comparison threads up on here somewhere.

R Black
M3 is a crackimg car BUT has no Individuality , the merits of a bpu Supra are well known, so i say try an M5
jazz1
build another supra like your old one:)
Kopite
If it's a weekend toy then the supra out of the 2, I agree with the previous comment of getting something like a Cerbera as a toy, or a C5 vette for omething different
supra_aero
Neither - with that budget you could afford an excellent rx7 which beats both hands down no question.

michael
Being smaller and lighter? Ah yes, it wins at being a Mazda too. I forgot the basics.
DSK
A TT Supra is a cracking car even by todays standards. An M3 is a great itself also. To be honest both are slightly different and therefore you have to try both and see which one tickles you the most. For me it would be a Supra TT or a Single as they are more rare and eye catching etc. I'm a BMW fan and owned a few M cars, we also have a good handlfull owned by family members. You will come across more unworthy BMWs before you find one thats worth buying as they are very common at falling into bad hands (car clockers, people who can't afford to run them etc). Witgh an M3, the initial run in service stamp is crucial and they also tend to suffer from worn shells (hiedeously expensive repair). supra_aero
Beats at fun, speed, looks, handling, performance and pretty much everything else except practicality next to an m3 and possibly reliability (if you get a bad one) . For a weekend car around that price tag I can't think of many cars which are better.
Jarek
M3 . Couse when you get a Supra again it's never ends on (Not going to go single) enough power for my needs.
kosmic
Hi Wkd...long time. Ive just recenetly got rid of my E46 M3 coupe, lovely car, does everything so well but i got bored of it really quick. I'd go for the Supra and save some cash for the inherent mod bug you'll get. Currently i have TVR Cerbera....not cheap but an awesome car. I'd go for the Supra and save some cash for the inherent mod bug you'll get. Currently i have TVR Cerbera....not cheap but an awesome car. This might be the best person to answer your question... me personally I'd take the Supra. I have driven then E46 M3 & think they are brilliant cars, in fact me and the missus are thinking of getting one after we are married so then can use it as a more dailyish runner & use the Supe at weekends to keep us on our toes! The M3 comforts is what tickled me and the power is pretty raw, though only thing is quite a few people round here own them & the Supra looks much more rare. At the wedding I went to Sunday, I had people compliment the Supra and parked next to it? Range Rover\M5\XF\BMW E90 (335i), yesterday at football had a young kid (looked about 10) he says he loves my Supra (his 10!) my car is older than him!
