Fairford Airshow 2009

Yeah just had a look at the aircraft, there really isn't very much special there, flying or static. Shame.

Yep, it's more of the generic stuff this year, but the eurofighter and raptor are there, they put on a great display 2 years ago.

Still, nothing compares to the Mig 29 with thrust vectoring, that was one of the most awesome displays I've seen. Even beats seeing the SR71 from 15 years ago.

Should be going down Sunday if weathers fine :)

Missed you in 2007 Lui, going on Saturday this year instead.

the chinook air display is awesome! - i get to see it nearly everyday as I work where there based

They are great to watch, it's incredible the manoeuvres they can do.

I was at waddington. Was very dissapointed.

2 hours queing to get in.

Watched red arrows while in the que.

Not many fast jets displaying.

Nothing particulary exciting. just flypasts from the older planes.

The red arrows and that french lot did more or less exactly the same display.

Vulcan didnt display.

And i got sunburn :(

On the pluss side the stunt planes were good as was the chinok desplay. Amazingly agile that huge thing!

The eurofighter was good also.

All the static planes were things ive never heared of. Which in a way was good but i couldnt relate to them.

The americans decided to bring 6 of the same plane. Which was a bit boring to walk past. As if they were asked to fill the space.

Overherd one guy say the vucan was never going to fly and it was a publicity stunt to get people in the gate. They only announced it 10 mins before it was due to close the show. So everyone left.

Do I remember someone on here who knows a little car park that is underneath the flightline ?

I'm not so keen on looking at static displays but do like to see the fast jets flying. I do get frustrated though that they do it half a mile away.

Was at Goodwood watching the Euro Fighter, but the display would have been brilliant in the main car park as it was standing on it's tail right over it.

May have a blast down there for an hour.

I shall be going down on the Saturday. I hope they get the Vulcan there- didnt they fly it to Waddington and then realise they didnt have the paperwork up to date and it ended up on static instead.

I had tickets for last year but then went to Farnborough instead when RIAT was rained off- watching them throw the A380 around was pretty good

Apparently the issues with the Vulcan at Waddington last week were due to not getting the paperwork sorted in time.

The guy I spoke to said it was akin to forgetting your MOT and remembering the day before you needed to drive somewhere.

Nothing wrong with it! It's got 2 techie issues, but they'll probably get 'limmed' (an aircraft limitation.) It's been around where I work loads recently, and been flying about. We've got jets that fly with pages and pages of limitations!

If a certain 50 year old aircraft from nearby gets up and goes flying, I'll be on it probably. I'll give you a wave!

I was at RIAT yesterday... and its was brilliant.

I had a quick look round the static, but spent most of the time looking up at the displays (I have the pink face to prove it) which were great this year... they all pulled it out of the bag this year.

The Vulcan flew, and it was as amazin as I anticipated. Typhoon was great (but I'm probably biased) although it could've done with not being second to last.

A fab day out though :)

great airshow display...went on saturday and had great weather.

Great to see the vulcan take off again and hear ther distinctive roar from the wind up on the engines.

The F18 displays were god to see. High alpha flybys are what the F18 has over the rest of them in the air.... one of the F18s flew by at less that 80knts !! Could have easily burnt him off in the Supra !

Only downside of the show is that my girlfriend now has a 'thing' for pilots !!

Well I had a first hand view of an air display, as I sat in the jumpseat courtesy of a particularly old aircraft from Brize Norton...!

take it you RAF then ;) snap.

...as you now know, Si!

Im still trying to decide whether to join up or not. Im going to get into shape and then decide!

Trust me, you don't need to. They let anyone in these days! People fail fitness tests when they join up, and continue their training. Dunno how that works....

snap

How many Simons own Supras in the RAF!!!!

snap again, ive known 'heckler' for a few years shall we say lol and im still waiting on my LED's!

Another one!!!
