michael
Isn't it odd how all those years ago something really basic could give you months of amusement, or maybe it was just me? The Turnin' Turbo Dashboard, one of the tools that made me the awesome driver I am today I'd also like to think that my little Kettler go-kart, red pedal car with drift tyres, Gran Trak 10, REVS, Pole Position, Final Lap, Outrun, Spy Hunter, Hard Drivin' and various other 10p > 30p a go games... when they went up to 50p and £1.00 a go it was cheaper to buy a real car. Matchbox also played a huge part in my early life, thanks again tiny cars. Have you always been a car nut or is it something a specific car brought on for you? I was a careful child but the one in the pics isn't mine unfortunately, I probably swapped it for some crack or heroin as I got older. kill1308
Oh my god.... so many childhood memories have just come flooding back seeing that. I used to have one of these when I was younger and absolutely loved it, I cried so much when it broke and I think I'm still slightly affected by it. jim_supra
Wow, I'd forgotten about that, I always wanted one but never got one:(. I had mates who had it though so I still got to hone my driving skills. I'm off to look on ebay for one now:D
ozz
I had one of these! You're right, thinking back its amazing how much time I spent on that for such a simple device. I used to play it even when the battries had run out.

Ace
I had a Turnin' Turbo Dashboard too, and a Kettler go-kart, although I seem to remember mine being silver. The neighbours never enjoyed the sound of the solid plastic wheels sliding all over the pavements outside their houses. Which is probably why they always looked at my GTO with disdain. michael
Wow, I'd forgotten about that, I always wanted one but never got one:( I had that problem with Screwball Scramble and the Tomy football one where you could send the players up and down the pitch with little joysticks that rotated to allow them to "kick" the ball. A couple more that I've remembered: http://shop.vintagetoybox.co.uk/images/IMAGE0459.jpg And I think I got this handed down from an older relative: http://www.toymonger.co.uk/GamePictures/carpet.jpg What was that game called where you had a player each end with little red plastic "shields" and you fired out a metal spinning top into the "area" and had to hit it to stop it going in your "goal"? Ace
Michael, you are truly a wealth of knowledge. Is that a board game version of Pacman? How did that work?
michael
I had a Turnin' Turbo Dashboard too, and a Kettler go-kart, although I seem to remember mine being silver. I think the karts came in different colours depending on size / age range, I think the silver and black ones were the bigger options, mine was the red which was second up from the small starter one. michael
Is that a board game version of Pacman? How did that work? The board had lots of small indentations in it and you spent 45 minutes trying to get the small white plastic balls to stay in it, I'm a bit scetchy on the rest but you moved your pacman around (there were two) based on dice throws or spins and "ate" the balls via a small hole in the bottom of the piece. It was a bit like Hungry Hippos in that you had to collect the most balls, I seem to think that you had to exit the side of the board to empty them into your store before a ghost got you but I have no idea what happened to make them come after you. It was pretty crap to be honest, I got Turbo at the same time and tended to play that a lot more.
Animal
I can't remember if I had the Pac-Man game or not, I had a variation on the racing game and I do, however still have these... http://images.boardgamegeek.com/images/pic71090_md.jpg http://images.boardgamegeek.com/images/pic10526_md.jpg http://images.boardgamegeek.com/images/pic442164_md.jpg http://images.boardgamegeek.com/images/pic452817_md.jpg

Thorin
I remember that dashboard! My cousin had one (he got all the cool toys). He had the pac-man board game too I seem to remember. Speaking of board games though, I loved Hero Quest and the Warhammer Space Crusade and Talisman games. There was another I remember but can't remember the name, based in a haunted mansion or something and there were built up walls and doors etc. on the board and glow in the dark skull that would knock you over or something if you landed on a trap. I remember my mate had it. http://images.boardgamegeek.com/images/pic172260_md.jpg I had Adeptus Titanicus and my mate had Space Marines, we used to alternate playing them each week. I always wanted Blood Bowl, but never got that.

Think I probably still have Space Crusade and Hero Quest at my mum's somewhere, might have to see if Angela is up for a game (no I can't see it myself either).
