hadyn
the hybrid kits are excellent kits, good reviews of them from the 200SX and scooby boyos You get everything you need just like the Greddy kits. Samurai446
Do they make a good power difference?
hadyn
Do they make a good power difference? well there main property is that they provide more efficient charge cooling than the smallish Wing Mounted Intercooler. Cooler charge = more power and the ability to run a little more boost. Plus they look hard sitting in the mouth of the front bumper On most turbo'd cars your looking @ 10-20bhp gain because of this. Nic
Do they make a good power difference? It will make very small power difference, which you'll probably not even notice. The main reason for fitting a better IC is to keep temps down to a safe limit when running higher boost.
hadyn
They're also very good if you plan to be running on boost for long periods of time - e.g. trackdays.
JohnA
I had paid £680 to import from Germany a badass FMIC on my calibra turbo, best mod I ever did on that engine, so I know the score. However the Supra has a decent unit as standard, don't be deceived by the (apparently) small frontal area. It's deep and the quality of the core inside is excellent. It is also ducted properly at the front AND at the rear, with the exit being in a particularly low pressure area, so the airflow through the external core is MUCH better than people think. As an advantage, the heated up air doesn't end up in the engine bay, preheating the condenser or the water rad. The pressure drop must be quite low too, at reasonable boost pressures (this I can't tell for sure without measuring it though) Why are people keen to dump this highly efficient setup in order to fit 'bling' items RIGHT in front of all the other rads, is beyond me. Plus they are forced to junk the front ducting of the water rad, and cripple the active spoiler for good measure. I've seen some lamentable FMICs on Supras, with the air freely flowing *around* the core, courtesy of the aftermarket bumpers with even wider openings. And people pay money for this crap! Ah, the mysteries of life....
