Missile
Just returned from a two week Holiday to find out one of my good friends has got himself Swine flu. As he only live's over the road and a mate this came as quite a shock. But i thought i'd share his symtoms, Because even though its not good its not as bad maybe as some might think. Shivering with a high temp. Sickness and nasty number 2's This lasted a few days then it was only the number 2's He is now ready to go back to work... Mike
Why are people dying of this? I don't get it? We have six cases confirmed on one of our other sites... I won't be visiting there for a bit!?
ivan
So basically, feeling pig sick then?
jacko
It's essentially just flu, but the media like to get excited about these things- The people that have died (bar one) all have underlying illnesses, who normal influenza could also finish off anyway. Plenty of elderly people get killed by flu each year, its no different
Mike
What about this though?
L33
thing is you could get the conventional flu but you will automatically be tagged as having swine flu. every year there is a bout of flu going round, this just has more media coverage then usual! the few that have died have apparently had underlining problems as well. isnt there usually a oap cull from flu any way? i dont really see the difference? i went on a fist aid course the other week and flu like symptoms covered.. flu, HIV/aids, anthrax and about 6 other illnesses!! Multics
That is quite worrying actually... The thing that I really don't get is why do we have so many swine flu cases in this country while all other European countries have so much less? Germany: 737 Spain: 1034 France: 457 Italy: 180 UK: 10.000 and 17 dead How come? The countries I just mentioned have the same amount of population/lifestyle than here... I don't get it. If you catch flu (ie influenza, not a 'cold') you WILL be off work cos you won't be able to get out of bed I guarantee you that!
vvteye
Completely right. I had flu about 15 years ago and didn't move for 3 days and was hypersensitive to light and sound... felt like dying. The biggest killer is the high temp. In my old nursing days we used to put cold flannels in the armpits and crotch and you could knock 3 degrees centigrade off the temp in 5 minutes. Not sure if they have time to provide that kind of care nowadays....

RedM
A colleague at work feeds me 'off the record' info from his wife who works for the NHS. I'm now more than worried about swine flu.

Havard
I have wondered if I have it tbh. For the last 8 years I have been incredibly lazy and lathargic. I have also suffered from mild bouts of sarcasm and I seem to be unable to take anything seriously...!! Are these consistent with the symptons? Also, I have been shitting rusty water for three days but I put that down to a dodgy pack of prawns from Asda..... H.

I'd imagine the stronger strain of swine flu is the equivalent of pneumonia, and we all know serious that is!
